The Game Crafter's Kickstarter Experiment: Village in a Box

The Game Crafter Kickstarter Experiment: Village in a Box

Next week Wednesday The Game Crafter is going to attempt a bold new experiment: we’re going to run a Kickstarter bundle project. Basically, we hand picked 8 games that we really like and are putting them together as a bundle for a very low price. This is an experiment, because we’re testing out both the bundle concept, and the methodology for running a campaign to see how the larger gaming community likes it. If it does well, we’ll do more in the future.

Site Design Refresh

Site Design Refresh

The Game Crafter is pleased to announce our new site design refresh. We always want to keep the design of the site changing with trends, and the needs of our users. With that in mind, we’ve released the first part of our site-wide refresh for 2014. The changes may be subtle, but every single page in the site has been refined. Let’s enumerate a few of them for you:

2013: A Crafter’s Retrospective

Each year around this time we like to look back on all that’s happened in The Game Crafter community. Click here to read the full article and learn about all the accomplishments in 2013.

Mystery Challenge Inspiration

It seems quite a few people are struggling with the Mystery Challenge at The Game Crafter. On one hand they’re having trouble coming up with mechanics to be used in it. And on the other, they’re having trouble coming up with an original theme. It might be best to forget the word “mystery” as you work on your game and instead use the words “hidden” or “undiscovered”. Allow us to provide a bit of inspiration.

Interview with Dustin Oakley: Bulk Order Fulfillment at TGC

Dustin Oakley successfully funded his Zooligans Card Game on Kickstarter in June. (Due to legal reasons the game name changed to Zoodlums after it was funded.) Dustin used The Game Crafter’s Bulk Order Fulfillment (BOF) service and you can read about his experience in the interview below.

You can now sell digital files on The Game Crafter!

At long last, you can now sell digital files on The Game Crafter. Why would you want to do that? You may want to sell a print and play version of your game. Or you may use The Game Crafter to make maps and GM screens for your RPG, and now you can sell a PDF copy of the handbook as a complete kit. You may be a Tarotist who uses The Game Crafter to sell your decks, but you want to include a meanings PDF to people who bought the deck. There are an endless number of reasons you may want to include some files with your game, or as a game.

Micro Game Challenge Entries: Let The Voting Begin!

The Micro Game Challenge - Presented by Father Geek, All Us Geeks Podcast, and The Game Crafter

The Game Crafter has received 129 entries in the micro game challenge and that is a new record! It is now up to you, the community, to narrow down that giant pile of games to a more manageable list of only 20 semi-finalists for our judges Cyrus (Father Geek) and Jeff (All Us Geeks Podcast) to paw through. You have until the wee hours of next Monday morning (noon UTC) to get your votes in. Go vote today!

PS:
You may vote for as many games as you like, but only once per game. The votes cost 10 crafter points each. This spending of crafter points helps ensure we don’t get a lot of undue out of community influence on the results.
