I am of the opinion that a forum for artists/designers who are offering services would be worthwhile. It could even be broader, game publishing services.

A simple rule (stickied) about not posting or bumping more than, say, once a month, would keep it to a reasonable level, I'd thnk.

Any thoughts?

I've got no problems with that... If we open it up to other services, we have to be careful about people logging in, dumping a unsolicited ad, and then never returning... Are we willling to police this forum? Obviously the answer is yes... Also, do we say it's a definite no no that designers themselves offer their design services? Otherwise the forum will be flooded.

I would agree,

As for designer offering design services, that would be a bad thing IMO. But depending on what ppl feel "design services" includes, I would still like to all members to offer services such as prototyping services, proofreading services, etc. Since I dont feel these fall into "design services" though some might not agree with me.

(For example, I would love to see ppl such as Matthew offer a meebles part service)

I certainly meant art and graphic design, not game design. Prototyping would be logical, too. For that matter, card printing, game manufacturing, and the like seems reasonable. Maybe agency services. Whatever was included, it would be key that we (as the BGDF) make it clear that we are in no way affiliated with the services, and make no claims that they are legitimate or worthwhile.

And I would be willing to not include myself in such a thing if it would be more appropriate. But I don't think we should keep members in general from offering their services. That's the good part.

Alternately, a special links section could work, though it doesn't allow any showing off in the immediate post (here's a sample of my art).

It does seem like a logical extension of some of the other forums, and also seems like a sensible addition to what is on offer.
Not that I'd be anything other than a user of these sort of services :-)

That all sounds reasonable.
