Re: Brahm

He knows he's not welcome, he's banned. Now

I agree with this. Well, we'll have to make sure it's really him. We can do it. Eventually, he will tire out or get bored. But if we fuel him with drama everytime, I can guarantee it will take a long time.

Another solution is to start charging for account (this is not good)
Another funny solution (taken from another forum) would be to make all his posts invisible to everyone except himself.

I love that last thought, hpox. :)

On not being able to stop him: c'mon, he can't have an unlimited number of IPs. I stopped his home cable connection (or wherever he posts from). Then he posted from one of "his" virtual IPs. Blocked the whole octet, and guess what, he hasn't been able to do anything since. From the moment I blocked it, he's not posted or anything.

It takes 30 seconds for me to block an IP or octet.

Here's my concern: he'll start badmouthing the BGDF in other places. Yes, he'll come off like an idiot to most people, but the hasslw factor is definitely there. That's the only part I'm actually concerned with.

He will get bored of the "game," as long as we don't play, that I agree with.

All in all, it sucks. I wish I'd handled it better, but I also wish he wasn't such an ass.

So... I'm about 90% now that bobbyj is Brahm. :(

His first two posts were just complimenting/agreeing with Goldar, and his third post reveals his musician background, which Brahm talked about quite a bit.

And, the kicker: he's posted from 3 completely different IP addresses, two of which don't resolve back on Reverse DNS (so they're probably anonymizers).

There are a limited number of anonymizers. Should I restrict those octets or just leave it be?

Ok agreed. I sent him an e-mail basically stating that he is no longer welcome here and that he isn't allowed to login as a member.

Here is the e-mail I sent to him this AM. I wll post any replies he makes here as well..

Quote:

Ok. Where to start. It turns out I will NOT be
overturning the ban. You're just not welcome anymore.
These are the reasons:

1) You lie. You have lied to me and to others.
Blatant lies, mind you.
2) You have no respect for the authority of the site
administrators. We work very hard to make this a
quality site. You were asked to stop posting in a
thread by a site administrator. Then you continued to
do so. You were banned (your account was deleted).
Then you proceeded to log back in with no less than
three other accounts (probably more). Then you said
in your previous e-mail to me that you will simply log
back in under a new IP in a few days.
3) You act like none of this every happened and it's
not your fault and that you're the victim.
4) And this is the kicker... You threatened one of the
admins with an act of violence. I don't care if you
were kidding, but this is totally unacceptable.

So basically you're not welcome at the BGDF. You may
obviously continue to read the forum topics as a
guest, but you are not allowed to sign on as a member,
under any name.

So that's basically it, in a nutshell.

I have locked out of the forums user bobbyj, who is clearly Brahm. I also locked out the three different IP addresses bobbyj was using (Palo Alto, Indiana, and India). FYI.

I also locked out Stewy... Posted from the same IP as Bobbyj.

Nando just pointed out that our good friend bobbyj had posted a graphic for the back of a card in Captain Black's rock and roll game thread, and that at some point he swapped the graphic out (since it was hosted on his machine).

It had become a naked woman with the BGDF logo on her.

So I looked at bobbyj's 6 posts, three of which were just him saying how right Goldar was (another alias), the other three contributing very little, and I just deleted the user. It had almost no impact on any of the threads, nothing that will be missed.

So, you all missed the fake-breasted Asian woman with the BGDF logo next to her. Bummer. ;)
