Ok... its not a boardgame....

But the folks here (Darkehorse and hpox) have graciously consented to allow us the use of a chat room to run a 'playtest' of the latest rpg adventure I have written for the Lejendary Adventure game system.

ANYONE that wants to give a try should feel free to download the character creation rules that are available on the site here. "How it plays" we'll teach... as well as pre-game questions will be both expected and answered for those wondering.

SPECTATION is more than welcome if you ever wondered what playing an rpg is like... although questions during the game should be kept to a minimum (some are ok).

...AND we're going to do it next Tuesday (the 24th) at 3 PM EST.

Hope to see some of you there.

...and THANKS to the BGDF!

Here's the file in case anyone was having trouble finding it:

Sounds fun. Good luck, I will probably assist as a spectator.

aRG...

Those currently signed up for play have switched the time to Tuesday at 8PM CST now...

...and I thought I'd post that here. As the one with the flexible schedule, I try to be , well... flexible.

But I do hope we'll see you hpox, at least spectating :-).

WOW!

A rather intense game test... with a good time had by all.

We were less organized than we should have been... but it worked out fairly well. A second session is planned for next week unless the moderators here tell me that "enough is enough", but even so, a HUGE THANK YOU is due this forum, and our gracious moderators.

I'll not bore folks with the details unless asked... but I will if asked :-).

I'm asking... I wanted to watch a bit, but I had to leave before it started. How did it go? Did you do a full adventure? How long did it take? Is there a transcript?

I'm glad it went well. I hope you took advantage of the /roll command. As far as continueing, please do! It is no inconvenience for me or the site at all and I'm glad to help.

...no.. we didn't finish... we got nowhere near as far as we should have... I miscalculated the chaos that would result from the chat room scenario :-).

It DID go well. I would love to have you play next time (sedj).

I didn't save the transcript in time... although I did post a synopsis at www.lejendary.com... or, more precisely, at:
http://www.lejendary.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1335

So... unless I post here different, we'll be back at it next Tuesday at 8 PM CST. :-)

Funny - that's true of RPGs played live too. I don't think I've ever played a game (as GM or player) where we got as far along as I (or the GM) thought we would. The 'chaos factor' is a true aspect of the game as out of game comments, tangents, and stopping for pizza all effect game time. Plus, over half the time, the players don't do what you, the GM, expect them to do - and that's what I love about playing RPGs! The randomness and fun that happens and the challenge to make an exciting story out of the adventure.

So don't think you miscalculated. It sounds like everything went as it should have.

My two pence.

Okay... this week was a bit more combat-heavy, and got the attention of the players as a result.

:-)

They found the entrance to a hidden city, fought off its guardians, deciphered the arcane functions that allowed the gate to open, and enetered, only just remembering that the "key to the gate" was still IN the gate.

It was a truly good time.

...and less chaotic than the previous session.

More updates as they occur. I have discovered, in a more design-oriented vein, that the module/adventure, even allowing for the difficulties of chat-room play, is longer than I had originally supposed. Projected play time was originally 8-12 hours, and it now appears to be more like 20-24.

Thanks to all once again!
