Well this thread is for you. As you can see, my avatar has not been made by me. I used a software called "hero generator". You can download the old 1.1 version from their website or buy version 2.0.
The idea is simple, it is an applet that runs in your web browser. There is a character template that you dress and customise with clothes, equipment, and color. You make a screen shot of the browser and dump it into an image software. You normally use this to create RPG characters but you can cut the face of the right pixel size and use it as your avatar. The colors are really limited, but you can repaint your character with a simple image software that can set to 10% or 20% a tolerance level on the paint bucket.
So if you want a cool avatar ( other than the different yellow faces available ) we can all use this software and get collectively better looking avatars for our forum.
