This is totally weird. I just walked into my living room and saw an item about boardgames and our own Aerjen (at least that is what I presume, it was a guy from teh Netherlands named Aerjen) was live on television playing Settlers of Catan and talking a bit about boardgames in general.

They also showed the top 10 most sold games here in the Netherlands. Settlers and Carcassonne beat Cranium and Monopoly. The rest of the top included Risk, Stratego, Trivial Pursuit, Rummikub and some other games that I forgot. They also had a little interview with Thomas Janssen, the creator of the game UWO.

Anyway, nice to see boardgaming and boardgame design get a little exposure.

Wow, so people actually saw me! I guess I'm a real moviestar now :-D It was pretty weird. At about nine-o-clock I got a call from the broadcastingcompany RTL if I would mind if they came over to film the gamingclub I organize with my friend Steven Woltering. Then when they came it appeared to be a live sattelite broadcast for a show which has quite a lot of viewers. For the people who understand Dutch and/or the people who just would like to see me, click this link: http://www.rtl.nl/(/actueel/editienl/)/components/actueel/editienl/2004/week44/0410259.xml

I still haven't got a clue as to how they knew our boardgamingclub Tyche exists, but ofcourse I'm happy with the attention we and gaming in general got.

Aerjen "the moviestar" Tamminga :-D

Very cool! Congratulations on the exposure, both for you gaming club and for gaming in general! We need more exposure like that here in the states!

A plug is a mention or advertisement, and by the site I meant BGDF. So what I was asking was did you mention BGDF.com or anything about the Board Game Designers Forum on TV?

That is awesome! I'vew been thinking about organizing a gaming club here. Maybe with luck I'll be as big a star as you are. (lol)

Heck I was too flabbergasted to think of that. I even forgot to mention the name of my own gaming club :-) Hopefully interested people will just google my name or the location and find my website.

Well Trickydicky, I wish you luck on your quest for the ultimate gaming club. All you have to do is work hard and look good and you can become a star like me <- Just for the record I'm kidding... All you have to do is look good :-D

Good advice. I'll have to find a good looking spokesman for my gameclub!
