Just a thought...

For a forum of 1600+ users there isn't a lot of activity on the boards (maybe it's just me).

I think it is a timing issue.

The posts come and go in streaks(altered by life, work, vacations, ideas). There are times that you cant even keep up with all the posts, and there are times when you want someone to post something interesting. But keep in mind why you dont post "all the time".

I for one try to use a lot of my available time for designing some games. I try to post when useful, but my available time goes to designing before posting.

I wish I had good ideas, I have an idea for a game that I could make at home, building a wooden board and using buttons for pieces (Great prototype part if I do say so myself), but other than that I am wiped out. I don't have any Settlers killers in the makes like the rest of you do =)

Oddly enough I just checked the membership and sorted it by total posts... The first 1093 users had no posts. In a nutshell, most people who have signed up either a) never return and/or b) never post. In reality I'd rather have quality over quantity, and I think that's the way it is now, which is good.

I think this forum is best put to use when people go and design games and then come back when they have questions and discuss them. Discussions just for discussions' sake are not productive IMHO.

My two cents worth...

I agree. Part of why I enjoy this forum is that there's not so much "noise". As a point of contrast, theck out TheMiniaturesPage. I like TMP - but there's so much activity and random commentary that it's just not as enjoyable.

Oh I don't know. Some of us try to keep the noise : signal ratio up...

(plus, I'll never catch up with Jeff if I stick to "proper" posts :-)

Hmmm catch jeff..... what would us "newbies" have to do to catch you guys?!?!?!

I would have to start producing a ton of ideas and/or issues to feel justified in catching any "old timer" on this site.
