I read on The Games Journal that Reiner Knizia will be making a CCG... does anyone have any news on that? I tried Google and found an interesting interview by Steven Glenn (who's a member here, isn't he?) but it didn't really say anything about the upcoming CCG (if there really is one).

Blue Moon probably. Not really a collectible or trading game, more of a customizable card game. The game looks really cool, but I only play 2 player games with my girlfriend and I'm pretty sure she won't like this, so I will not be getting it.

He made a game called Scarab Lords that's apparently a non-CCG with CCG traits; the rules contain elements of deck-building. I haven't heard anything about his design of a real CCG, but I don't follow CCGs too closely... so this post probably sheds zero light on the subject. :?

With Scarab Lords he made a non-collectible game that had the "sideboard" aspect of CCG tournament decks; i.e. you could swap in and out cards from a reserve stock in between rounds.

The decks are also balanced differently, with different styles- one slower, one faster etc.

I think he was playing with some of CCGs' innovative concepts in a non-collectible format. I haven't heard of him doing anything similar again, although he may well do, but I'd be very surprised if he actually had something that was a collectible card game per se in the works.

Richard.
