I've seen a lot of new people around, and more importantly, a lot of them have started posting their ideas and replying in threads.

I just wanted to say Welcome to the BGDF community!

Hey, I'm a forum nut and a boardgaming / design freak (better than a geek, I suppose), so this place will likely become a second home.

I've been loving what I've read here so far and plan to become as involved as possible.

I've tried to make a few games, but lack of effort/time/support always got in the way. Maybe here I can at least get some support and feedback.

One of the nice things about a net community like this is the draw from experience outside of your small circle of friends / gamers. Different experience = different insight. Also, friends may not be into playtesting or conceptualizing...but that's the sole purpose of this forum!

Feedback is one of the most important (if not THE MOST) things when it comes to designing/creating/making/composing anything that's meant for public consumption.

Without, we can't really know how the greater public would react. We can only assume. And you all know how that saying goes...

It's nice to be here. I'm new to the Boardgame Design field, but this site has given me several ideas on how to develop the concepts that have been bouncing around my head! Hopefully the input that I've contributed has done the same.

yay! Go new people! =D

And my experience is only 2 years, so I'm glad I found this place to help me along ^_^

Hey yeah... I don't think I ever introduced myself. I've been kicking around the industry since the early 90s, had a few designs published, set up and ran my own RPG company for eight years... my current majorproject is the third draft of a board-game for a cross-media project I can't name. It's good to be able to pick other peoples' brains on tabletop game design, and I hope my own contributions are helpful.

Can you comment on your RPG company? Or products that you created for the RPG market?

From the way you stated it, is seems you no longer run this RPG company? If I am correct, why did you stop running it?

Likewise, good to be actually start posting some stuff on here after lurking around for a few months. This place is great and just knowing that there are others out there with similar passions and ambitions is something that really motivates me. While I'm still a complete novice, it's really all just about the dream of creating that first break out hit game... =) And if that never happens, I'll be happy knowing that I've found a GREAT aspect for my creative energies (and hey, maybe at least my friends will play whatever stuff I end up cranking out).

Thanks for making this such a welcoming site! I am also a novice, with only very minor credits to my name -a playtest credit in the original Dungeoneer card game - and editor for a couple of miniature rules sets - WWII micro-armor and a Civil War game (see Old Dominion GameWorks - odgw.com - if interested).

I look forward to picking brains here - I've already been pleasantly amazed at all the great comments and ideas that fly around. And the freely given ideas and guidance are great to see. I've had a couple of ideas for games, but was intimidated by prototype creation - I look forward to trying out the methods you guys have come up with.

Thanks again,
Jim

Hi, my name is Carlos and I'm ... I'm a newb here. :)

Been lurking for a while here--really more like absorbing. I'm working on a board game that ties into a novel I've begun to write. The novel will use the game as a sort of symbolic archor, but I also want the game to be great on its own--to have a legitimate mechanic, a complex strategy and a great look/feel. My dream is that both novel and game will be published, and I don't much care in which order. :)

Definitely will give a shout out to the BGDF in my acknowledgements if/when I publish, because the knowledge I've gleaned here has been invaluable and unique--just no where else could I have gotten everything that I've gotten here.

So maybe I forgot I had already posted here yesterday. Oh well. I do want to also add though that everyone's been very warm and welcoming here - it seems like a nice, tight community. =)

My name is Rob and I'm an alcoholic. I lived on the streets for a few years and use to play chess down at City Hall. Some people told me I should clean up my act and play chess professionaly. Of course I didn't listen and to this day I am still an alcoholic.

Oh wait... this isn't AA is it?

Hi, I'm Julius, and I'm a gameaholic.

Not actually a lurker... I stumbled onto this site very recently. People keep telling me that I should start selling the games I make, so I started looking into it. This is one of the first sites that came up while looking for board game publication, and I got hooked.

My latest brainchild (huge card/board game) has been in the works for several months... incredible because most of game ideas I have get started but not finished. I'm about ready to prototype it and begin playtesting.

My other interests are computer programming (actually, all of my cards are stored in a db, and are generated via a php script on a secure web site... this allows me to make cosmetic changes like a bold title or changng an icon without having to manually touch 450 cards - it took some fiddling to get them to print with the right dimensions, but it works great), my Jeep (a '98 Wrangler that I love to death and dump most of my money into), and the outdoors.
