Online Game Design Course

Hi all,
I’m a game industry vet of 15+ years and a full-time inventor for the last 4 of those years.

I’ve been teaching adult education courses in Game Design throughout Southern California for over 3 years now and am looking to make my classes available on-line. I’d like to get some feedback from those who might find my class useful. Please feel free to respond to any or all questions. You may post to this board or directly to me at…
kmcre8f@hotmail.com

I will be starting with my intro course, “Getting Paid to Play: the Business of Game Design,” which encompasses topics such as:
- The Markets
- Industry Overview and where do game inventors fit in
- Designing from the outside In
- Gamestorming: ways for creating games and making them better
- Why people play games
- Exploration of various game mechanics
- What makes a good game good
- Prototyping
- Play Testing and revision
- Pitching your games
- Protecting Yourself
- Making the Deal
- Pay Cycles and when do I retire?

My questions are:

Would you be attending on a PC or Mac?

This course is normally taught as a 1-day, 6-hour interactive seminar. Would you prefer to take it as
A. A 1-day 6-hour seminar, likely to be a Saturday, or possibly a Sunday
B. Three 2-hour seminars, hosted on concurrent weekday evenings
C. Three 2-hour seminars, hosted once a week on weekday evening
D. Four 1.5-hour seminars, hosted on concurrent weekday evenings
E. Four 1.5-hour seminars, hosted once a week on weekday evening
F. Other

Do you prefer getting live 2-way audio in which way?
A. Through VoIP, which requires you to have a microphone hooked up to your computer. Most cost effective route but I’ve heard that sound level is sometimes iffy.
B. By calling a toll number. Call will show up on your phone bill as long distance charge.
C. By calling a toll-free number. I pay for all of you to be online, and consequently the price gets reflected in the cost of the course

What would you EXPECT to pay for the long one day seminar and/or smaller sessions (without phone charges)?

What would you be WILLING to pay (if different than above)?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. If you’ve hosted or attended seminars/classes/meetings/etc using a program that you particularly liked or disliked, I’d love to hear that as well.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
- Keith Meyers

Course Clarification

Already some great responses, thanks!

For clarification, the course would be a fully visual and interactive course using powerpoint, excel, quicktime movies, whiteboards, and quizzing/polling. I only query about the audio for ease in interactivity, i.e. if I say something you don't fully understand or leads to another question, you can simply voice your question as opposed to typing it in.
