Is anyone going to be attending Ubercon in NJ Feb 27-29th? I'm actually curious if anyone has attended any past Ubercon's? If so how was it? Is it worth going? And anything else worth sharing about it?

I'm already got my ticket and room reservations (so no turning back now), but I just would appreciate some feedback on what I've gotten myself into.

Thanks-

If you'll consider a biased opinion... :)

Ubercon's a fairly new convention, so it's still evolving. As a boardgame GM there, I'm trying to get as many kinds of games there as possible. I've helped expand Ubercon's board game repitoire to include European games, and I'm trying to get wargamers and train gamers interested as well.

This will be the first time the Prototype Game Workshop will run. I hope it works out; I'd love to keep holding it in the future. If I can lure more BGDF'ers out here, it would be great!

In addition to board games, UberCon has RPGs, miniatures, and LARPs, which most game conventions have. In addition, there's a LAN, a bunch of consoles, and film and anime showrooms. So it's pretty much gaming heaven.

I'm looking forward to seeing you, and any other BGDF'ers, there!

Ingredient X,

I posted the last message in this portion of the forum and I have signed up for your group at Ubercon. My partner and I had a meeting the other day and worked on our game alot. Unfortuntely we made alot of changes that we like however we're (more me) are not sure if we'll be able to present a fully functional game. I don't want to waste everyones time with a game with too many holes in it. Can we still go and just ask for ideas instead of a playable version? If not can we just go and discuss the game and help the others when the time comes. We do need help and this would be a great opportunity but I'm not sure we have what it takes to keep up with playing an actual game. I guess we're pre-beta now but we have solid ideas. We have other games in progress farther long but this one game is our 'baby'. Any thoughts?

Hmmmm...

I originally envisioned the workshop to be for beta-testing prototypes. However, I believe that there will be at least one other person there who may not be able to bring a prototype in time. So out of the 8 registrations for the event so far, there may be others in your shoes.

If that's the case, then I'll set you guys up with your own table and you can shoot around ideas. This way, the prototypes and the pre-betas will get attention.

I can't guarantee too much - it will all come down to how many people bring playable demos. All I want to guarantee is that whoever brings a playable demo will get feedback on it. Hopefully I can get you pre-betas taken care of too. :)
