Beginner Question

So I'm pretty good with C++, and I'm getting better with 3ds Max, but before I get really envolved with thinking up games and stuff (which is the reason I started learning the programs in the first place), I wanted to ask what is probably a stupid question.

So you have the models for the game designed, and you have the scripts for the game ready. My question is, where do you put the two together? What program/softwear do you compile the scripts and then put them onto the models and create the actual game?

Second, is there a way to get an Xbox compiler on my computer, so that I could technically write up scripts and stuff, and when i compile them, it's compiled into the Xbox language, so when i put it on a disc, the disc can play on the Xbox? Maybe a stupid question, but I'm curious.

Thank you very much.

Before you go any further you may be in the wrong place. This group is about board game design and we also get into other sorts of table top games. If you’re looking for information on making video games this is the wrong place. On the other hand if you are making computer versions of board games we can certainly put in our 2 cents on that aspect of your project.

Good grief. Maybe the new logo will help wayward internet wanderers figure out this subtlety...

Are you still recovering from site-outage induced withdrawal pangs too?! ;-)

hoboduce88 ...

Hi -- for computer game questions and discussion, I prefer the Game Programming Wiki (link: http://gpwiki.org), which is quite similar to the BGDF in tone and help level, but is focussed soley on DIY indy computer game projects.

Question answered! Looks great too. Simple, straightforward, colorful. I like it!
