Game pieces?

How do you get spare game pieces from other companies for your prototype games? I'm talking on a scale like Samurai Swords, Civ, Risk, A&A, and the like. I need plastic, very small, and affordable...any ideas?

Spare pieces? as in small quantities to use in your own prototypes? Most game companies will allow you to buy replacement parts for a reasonable cost if the game is still relatively new and the parts are in stock/still available. You can also buy replacement parts from companies that specialize in that sort of thing, like http://www.svgames.com/parts.html . However, if you're looking for parts to purchase in large quantities, try checking the game parts category under the web resources module in the menu to the left.

The only prob I see with that is what a sucky collection of game pieces I've seen from those websites. I'd much rather prefer getting replacement pieces from the larger-brand companies. would you know how to contact some of these?

Thorn,

I know that companies like Hasbro has a link right on their site for ordering replacement parts, thus Risk, A&A, you should be able to go to

http://www.hasbro.com/pl/page.replacement_parts/dn/default.cfm

and get replacecment parts directly from Hasbro.

You just need to fill out a form, send in a payment and *poof* the replacement parts come in the mail.

If you are thinking about using these parts for your prototypes, ok, but I dont think you are allowed to use them as part of a game you sell (but if anyone else knows about this, please enlighten me!)

Aside from the copyright issues mentioned above, the cost of replacement parts is most likely not close to wholesale price. Thus you would lose a lot of money buying marked up bits for your game.
