Hello, :D

I am working with a group of 4 other students. We are working collaboratively to design a board game directed at Education, Collaborative skills and Creative Processes. None of have had any experience with board game design. We were looking for any advice that anyone would like to give us. We basically have 5 weeks to complete the game. Any replies would be very appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Go to a local friendly game store that has a library of games that they will let you play for free, or go here www.boardgamegeek.com. Study the other games, how the rules are written, how they present themselves, just where do the games draw a line in-between theme and game mechanics. After you study think about something you like about the games you have played and try doing that in a new way. Playing board games with the team will be a good way to bond and understand what the group will want to work on.

There's the project management to consider as well. Break up the project into parts and give out responsibility on an even basis. Others can help out with a part, but one person in the group is designated as being in charge of that section, and they get the final say.
Parts such as - artwork, layout, ideas, gameplay, goals, random elelments, playtesting etc..
