A couple of things to consider:

1) Symbols instead of text on cards goes a long way towards making your game language independent, which is good if it really takes off. That way you only have to rerelease the rules in different languages, and the cards stay the same (believe me this will be a big plus later on down the road).

2) As you probably know, depending upon how intuitive you make the symbols, the learning curve to learn the game will be steeper. As you playtest and get people

A symbol for maximum might be something like a full hour glass, or a gauge (like a speedometer) pegged all the way to the right, these would depend upon the theme of your game of course. A symbol for take might be a hand taking an object from another hand.

I like the idea for Take, except the fact that I have no idea how to draw it in a simple manner to keep the style consistent.
