Does anyone ever do little contests just for fun, where the leader goes "Here's an idea to use, who can come up with the best idea in a half hour or less"? This sounds like a fun exercise, and I'm sure it would boost creativity and be fun to watch...

Yes, Fastlearner often hosts such contests during wednesday night chats. Keep your eyes peeled on his chat schedule when he returns. I think he is itching to do another one soon.

Just For Fun contests?
They're called Game Designer Showdowns, only instead of working 30 minutes on one problem we work 5-10 on several. The theme and mechanics are randomly selected (that, or FL has a wild imagination). These contests are very fast, very hectic, and very fun. It's like playing a game about making games! If you win, you get a cool icon under your user name, so if you've noticed that some posters have trophies under their alias - wonder no more, they are former GDS champions.
