Naval warfare game

Hi there, just kind of getting a feel out there for this game. Its a game that I've been working on off and on but only gotten seriously into developing the game's own mechanics and combat system. It is a fantasy WW2 naval game, a large 'what if' game.

Basically it comes from what if WW2 started in 1945 instead of 1939. What if Germany and Japan had larger fleets along with the US and Britian had a bit smaller (but still larger than Germany) but more powerful fleet. What if Spain had entered the war as well on the Axis side. The Netherlands had built or building a couple of battlecruisers as well.

It's still being work on (finally got the combat system working), and I'm working on a playable prototype but I'm just seeing what type of interest there is out there.

I love naval warfare games, I am a great fan of PTO 2 ( SNES and PC ). What I was wondering is that is it a strategy game where most of the battles are naval one but you can still conquer territories and bases or is it more a tactical game fleet vs fleet battle.

The battles will be mostly naval, a few land battles will be in the Pacific, much like the real WW2. There is a possibility of France falling with specific rules as to what happens to the Frendh fleet.
What you have are counters for the major ships, Battleships/battlecruisers, Carriers, and light and heavy cruisers along wtih submarines. You gain and lose points based on zones of influnence which can effect some construction of ships.
Basically a two player game with one person the Allies the other the Axis trying on a grand scale to gain control of the oceans.
Some ground units and air units are represented in the game.

There is one thing that I can't seem to find. I'm looking for silhouettes of warships of WW2 to use on the playing peices. If anyone has an idea as to where I can find something like that I'd be grateful.

Are you looking for top or side silhouette, If you wish, you can use the SNES PTO 2 rom game. Make some screen shots of the ships on the description screen. Then darken the graphics to make it all black. For the top silhouette, go the to fleet formation screen, and make a screen shot.
Yes you rip off the graphics, but if you darken them down, no body should notice.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm looking for the sides of ships, perhaps ones that i can change a bit to suggest new classes of warships as well. I run into a bit of a problem because I've started World War 2 in 1945 not 1939 so there are several classes that I have to change the silouettes.

I will say its been an interesting learning experience with different ships that might have been, or even ships that would follow up after what was built. I think I have a pretty playable demo working, but i need to redo my air combat values, not very good, but surface combat is great so far.

I'll continue to work on it a bit more adn keep you up to date.
