I got a idea this morning about a game that you are building up a zoo with cards,
to entartain a family and to make the family stay as long as possible at the cards that you lays down.
Each card has a color on each side of it and you put down card next to the card the family is on by putting a card that has a matching color on one of its side.

All cards also has an "attractive value" if you put an card with a higher attractive value next to the card with the family on they move to your card.

The cards has an value that shows how many maximum turns the family can stay at the card, when they have stayed that many turns they go to a card beside with the highest attractive value (no matter if its lower than the card the left).
And there is various with "special" cards that sinks attractive values, boosts them etc.

I thought of that you get points every round the family stays at one of your cards and when you reaches a certain score, you win the game

What do you think?

This sounds like a good idea! i like the theme, and the idea also sounds very tactical. I'd be interested in how your physically design the cards, too.

One way to orient playing cardsinto a nice even field is to herring-bone them, laying them portrait/landscape / portrait, and so on. Like a basket weave. This way, the surface stays even, with only small square gamps between the cards. Much better looking than a straight grid of cards.

Very cool idea! You may want to consider adding extra families for players to battle over. Also, rather than having each tile have a certain number of turns to keep a family (which might get fiddly to keep track of), perhaps families can move once every round, if possible.

Another possibility is for families to leave tokens in their wake, and make those tiles that they have already visited be less attractive than tiles they have not yet entered.

Finally, will players be drawing from a common stock of tiles or does each have their own set? If it's a common stock, how will you keep track of who owns what? Tokens?

I like this idea a lot. It's kind of like Carcassone but with neutral meeples. :)

You might want to take a look at ZooSim to see how someone else tackled a similar system. Some of your ideas certainly add an interesting spin on those mechanics though.

I liked the idea of that the attractive value goes down each time the family visit the tile.
For the basket wave thing, I thought of using cards or tiles that are formed as a square, but maybe I should use your idea?

I also changed my mind about the color thing, the animal on the tile could have a few color stars or whatever next to it and they have to stay next to animals that have similiar color marks otherwise they don't feel well.

The dimensions of playing cards are best suited to common actions such as shuffling. Square card are very much "all corners", and have a far greater tendancy to bend near the corners and get dented near the centers of each edge. For this reason alone, I'd go with standard card.

Also, square cards are a pain to shuffle.
