Preventing inky fingers!

I've been making my own cards using my colour printer and business card sheets and when using I often find that the colour rubs off onto my fingers (and my playtesters!).

Has anyone got any tips on what I should use to cover it? Is there a glossy spray or something?

Thanks for your help. Cheers .... TwoBob

Ok a couple of options for you :

1) Buy some cheap card sleeves (you know like the ones ppl use with magic or yu-gi-oh cards). this will be the easiest fix and if you can live with this option for playtesting it will be the quickest option. But obviously this is not a long term solution for producing a decent card.

2) You can purchase a product such as Krylon® Matte Finish or Krylon® Low Odor Clear Sprays

If you look at the post Mat Board, Boxes, bags and bunch'o'stuff, one of the links is to a location that sells sprays like the Krylon products I mention above. There are also many other brands on the market besides Krylon, but Krylon just happens to be the easiest for me to find in local stores.

3) You could also laminate the cards using a laminating machine such as a Xyron machine. Search the forum there are a ton of posts about this machine.

The easiest or quickest fix will be the card sleeves. After that the spray will be cheaper, but it might also be more annoying/difficult to apply then using a laminating machine.

I have never seen this happen with paper. Unless people have damp hands the ink should not come off. One thing you might be careful of is using laserjet products in inkjet printers. I have encountered this problem with labels when I inadvertently bought the wrong stock.
