Hello all,

I recently sent a query letter to Steve Jackson games and got quite a favourable resonse. In fact they now want me to send a prototype.

I used to play Illuminati and Car Wars so obviously I'm aware it's a pretty reputable company.

I wondered if anyone had had any experiences with submitting games to this company?

thanks

Congratulations!

Do you think you can post a sample of the letter that got your foot in the door?

Sure...here goes. Rereading this it looks extremely informal and I'm shamelessly pumping it up. I think I was in a pretty laissez-faire mood at the time.
I also included in the original letter some more information about the theme and mechanics of the game itself, which I'd prefer to keep to myself just until I've got a little bit further along the road. The gist of it is as follows...

I've just created a wickedly funny game and have just begun to look around for somone to publish.
Its a....2-4 player (game), playtime is about 40 mins per game.
Target audience...educated adults with a sense of humor. Older teens possibly too.
It's very clever, very tactical and very cynical. It's ruthless, nailbiting and almost always hilariously funny.

Playtesting is always a blast. Almost every game has gone down to the wire!
thanks

I should point out that I sent similar (although slightly more formal) letters to a couple of other game companies. I haven't had a response back from any of them.

Awsom...

Hi buddy, I'm glad for you and hope to see your game published soon...
nice to hear that there is hope for some of us (:

I don't have any experience in this matter, becuase I didn't send any of my games to any publisher (yet...^_^), but just though it will be nice to congragulate you.

By the way can you tell the genre (and just the genre) of your game?
