Hey!
Ice been designing a Children's board game and really need help on the board design. It's roughly a game where you are playing different baby delivery theories (storks for example) and trying to deliver the baby to the parents
What do you think of this board for the game?
i think you meant to post a link, so i cant help with that specific design but...
i really like the concept. although delivery games arn't new i dont think i have seen a baby delivery game. i could sell well as a baby shower gift.
i am guessing (without seeing the board) you play a stalk who must deliver more babies than the other stalks. maybe collecting them from cabbage patches.
incidentally, if you look up the origins of the stalk/baby myth you will be horrified. its a very old fairy tale (german i think) where the stalks dont deliver babies but steal them and kill them in revenge for us taking there eggs. its unnecessarily gory like most old folktales and designed to scare kids into behaving.
oh no my mistake there is a link (my phone just didnt want to show it).
it looks cute. i'm not sure why the bumper cars are there but it looks good.
Isn't is crazy how old fairytales like that have been twisted to become sweet bedtime stories?
I added the bumpers cars to give it a childlike elements. Too much?
And that the colors could be a bit more vibrant, rather than saturated. Does that make sense? Like the reds are very saturated, but the colors don't pop enough to visibly separate elements of the board at a glance. That's my two cents, but again that's based on thinking this is a game aimed at kids 7 and under.
It was designed for children, 10 and under, you're right. In my next iteration, I'll make it more vibrant, as opposed to saturated. I do understand what you mean.
Also I can't tell how the game would interact with the board. Is there to be a grid overlay?
You know, I got that comment a lot. I have decided to completely remove the "child" from the board's island.
Yes, there will be a grid over the island, where the player will be able to see where they can place the tiles.
I don't know anything about how the game is played, but I usually have an idea of how that goes if I have a look at the game board. Is there any way you can clearly integrate the gameplay with the game board itself?
That's a good point, I'll work on that in my next iteration, as I'm completely redoing the layout.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I will be changing the board dramatically
