Boardgame where you fire ballistas at opponents towers?

Hi everyone! Are there any boardgames where opponents use little ballistas to fire across the board and knock down the other player's tower?

I have a nascent concept for a two player game like this. Each turn a player fires their little ballista (fixed on the board but on a 180 degree swivel that also tilts vertically) at the other players castle. They might also fire at opponents' soldiers and the doorways of the castle, which might be represented by cardboard drop-down targets. Additional targets like flags would provide points or resources for the shooter.

The castle could be a fixed plastic wall with red target blocks that can be knocked clear by the projectiles, or the castle may be entirely destructable, like a physical version of the old Nintendo game Rampart. Players placing each individual section of walls to build strategic defenses for drop down targets (representing the royal family, castle clergymen, nobles, etc.) the sections are protecting.

Strategy could involve what to target, where to position soldiers, and skill would be involved in aiming down the tiny sight of your ballista.
Between the two opposing castles would be a battlefield where soldiers could engage each other in some way.

I think Crossbows & Catapults

I think Crossbows & Catapults is kinda like that. I know there is at least one although I don't think it is fairly recent and you could probably do it again if you have some nice improvements.

Siege

There was also an old game called "siege", which came out after "battle master" where you had catapults and cannons.

Is battleground interesting as a Gmae or is it more like a toy. I bought heroscape because it was a game, but when I saw battleground it looked more like a toy to me.

Thanks for the info everyone!

Thanks for the info everyone! I am a bit sad to hear it has been done before, but those games mentioned are also pretty cool.

Who cares that others have been made?

Yes there are other games like this, but why not make another one? The other ones are real simple, and after a while get real boring. Yours sounds more unique, and if you could make it like the old Nintendo Ramparts game, that would be a plus. A game where you really have to think about how to build your castle would be cool, the other ballistic games require you to make a wall and hope for the best... a different game would require you to manage your wall pieces and place them at the right time to create the best castle.

Keep up your work, it would be great to have a good balistic board game in the market, not like the rubbish sold at WalMart.

I will take your advice! At the very least I now have a frame work for learning how to design games. I'll try to focus it around managing wall sections and timing like you suggest 8)
Think I'll pick up a copy of Battleground: Crossbows & Catapults while I'm at it.
