I forget where, but in another thread you talked about how you can't fit all the dice onto the cards when they're done being rolled, but I contest that this isn't even necessary.

That was in the thread "How many games are you working on...": http://www.bgdf.com/node/13361

It is visually fun to be able to put them on the cards I guess, but in the end when you roll a success, especially if it's a real-time dice rolling game, you won't want to have to place the dice on the card. Just a thought.

I agree - But the gist of it was that I wanted to put the five (5) dice on the BOTTOM of the card in sequence. To do so, I need to make the dice smaller and hopefully still be able to recognize the number to roll... Not too BIG of a problem. :P

Interesting - I also have a gymnastics game in development

I'm not hijacking this thread, rather I'm encouraging you - but also letting you know I'm working on a gymnastics game, too.
I stumbled upon this thread today and although I haven't read all of it, I found it very interesting that someone else is considering a Gymnastics game. My daughter and I have been working on one for a few months now and I believe it's very different from what you're developing, based on the first several posts. Who would have thought girl's gymnastics would be such a hot topic? LOL.

Good luck with your project! I hope you can bring it to life!

Hot Topic (not the store)

It's only a hot topic because of those "hot" pink uniforms.

Ha ha ha

I'm sorry! I couldn't resist.

Still in the idea phase

Well my game is a little bit *light* on the theme. Although I am developing a Gymnastic's game, there still are aspect that need clarification. Right now the game is a conceptual stage - and probably will be since I have two (2) other games that are on hold. This excludes the game I am currently playtesting and working on.

So even though the thread exists and I have ideas for the game which I have already done some early playtesting for, it is far from a complete/done deal.

The other thing is the fact that is that my game is NOT a Board Game, instead it is a Card Game (Cards, Dice and Sand Timer). Also I need to determine what the game *lacks*. The existing concept works but falls short (in my book). The Dice rollings is cool and playtesting this a few times and it works (even with the timer).

But ultimately I am worried it may be perceived as a *sophisticated* game of Yahtzee. I also don't like the fact that the events are more or less of the same... I can vary the number of cards to an event or the number of dice used for a skill. I would prefer if the events played differently...

So this is a concept in the design/idea phase...

Sharing of cards

The photography link has made me think more about the concept of *sharing cards*. Like I had 80 cards for four (4) events. I don't like having cards for the four (4) events any more... The game with it's cards and dice is a little bit *light* in terms of gameplay...

There needs to be more *meat* to the game. Obviously I don't want to go into the whole "Calendar/Events" concept... No I want the game simply to have more features to it... And maybe some way of having "Take-That" cards that players could play to slow down a player...

I am thinking that the FIRST part of the game should be about "Building" the routine (where all opponent's may play cards into their opponent's routine or their own). Different events require different amounts of cards. Once all players have their routines set, then comes the SECOND part of the game.

In the second part, players have 2 minutes per event to score the best possible scores (out of 10.0) Then tey total their four (4) scores, one for each event, and see who has the HIGHEST score - that's the winner!

But I am still thinking about Characters/Gymnasts to select which could have a bonus and penalty for a certain event. I think this would make players more *into* the game.

There still is more *thinking* that needs to be done... The game is still in an embryo state!
