Crowdsourcing ideas on how to make a Noah's ark game out of animals and letters and words in both English and in Hebrew. It is for young children ages 3+.

Looking at the prices of some EVA foam toys and it doesn't seem unreasonable. Thinking maybe some kind of bath toy game, or involving a hose and water.

I am hoping there is some creative out there who can help me think of a fun way to combine pairs of animals into the ark, with perhaps a dash of water if they fail to match correctly.

my first thought would be

my first thought would be matching cards 2 by 2 as it were. either picture to word or english to hebrew (both with pics).
for really young kids a memory match will work.
if you want something more in depth make it a set collection game. there are plenty of both out there and some are probably in hebrew too.

What do you think of

What do you think of something like this, but with letters?

https://m.alibaba.com/product/60652454613/1-12-sea-animal-shape-bath.htm...

Maybe the letters are between the pair, and hold the two animals together?

Wonder if there is a way to do simultaneous turns...

Hebrew letter don't really

Hebrew letters don't really lend themselves well to bath toys, I think, since many of them have multiple pieces (as compared to, say, English, where all the upper-case letters can be made out of one piece of EVA)

Re-reading, I realize I have no idea what you're trying to do. A game that squirts water at people..? Simultaneous turns? Turns of WHAT?

I think you need more of a core concept to present here, or at least to more clearly express the game you have in mind.

This is true. Two of the letters wouldn't work so well. Might have to simply make it a design on the animal.

"Kids, I've spread out all the letters around. When I call a letter, you have 10 seconds to find all of them and match them to the animals. Let's do 'A'. Find all the A and match them to the animals. ... 3, 2, 1, you missed one, you all get sprayed with the hose!"

Or

"I'm giving each one of you a letter, and you have to find the animal that has that letter on it. Bob gets 'A', Sue gets 'B', ... You each have 10 seconds to find your letter. Go! ... 3, 2, 1, Bob you didn't find 'A', Sue got 'C' instead of 'B', you both get sprayed with the hose!"

Or water poured on your head if playing in the tub. Something like that. Something where getting it 'wrong' is a part of it.

Well, okay, so the water part

Well, okay, so the water part is just.. a parent with a cup of water nearby? Not part of the game, really.

This sounds more like a toy than a game. A set of foam letters and/or animals (with letters on them, I suppose), which you can play with and pretty much make up your own game.

My feeling is that this sort of toy already exists. Certainly I own a set of foam bathtub letters...

Toy to Game

I agree that this needs a bit more to be a game, though it might have some use just as an educational toy.

If the plan was to match English and Hebrew letters, you'll need to decide which alphabet is the basis since they aren't one-to-one. Also, I'm guessing the number of animals that start with equivalent letters in both languages is fairly small.

If the letters are simply SETS unrelated to the names then those problems go out the window.

Perhaps the simple version of the game only uses a handful of letters from each alphabet. Collected sets go into an Ark (which happens to float if used in a tub). Use different sets each game to teach the kids the alphabets in pieces.

For more advanced use, players are supposed to collect a certain number of the animal depending on whether it's Clean or Unclean.

Good thoughts, thanks. Can't

Good thoughts, thanks. Can't write much as I'm at work, but did make a list of animals based on the Hebrew 22 letters and each animal's first letter appears once in each language. Was challenging.

Heh, impressive.

I had to look up "addax", though. I suspect "antelope" is a better choice.

Because I wanted to help you out a bit.

A - Alligator
B - Bear
C - Cat
D - Dog
E - Elephant
F - Fox
G - Giraffe
H - Horse
I - Iguana
J - Jaguar
K - Koala
L - Lion
M - Monkey
N - Nighthawk
O - Ostrich
P - Penguin
Q - Quail
R - Rabbit
S - Snake
T - Tiger
U - Urchin
V - Vulture
W - Whale
X - Xerus
Y - Yak
Z - Zebra

The only one that was a bit of a CHALLENGE was "X" (Xerus). It's a type of "Ground Squirrel" in Africa. I tried to use MORE POPULAR animals like "Lion" instead of "Lamb" (for example). Again just trying to help you out a bit...

Cheers!

Rock the Boat

I'd say the penalty could be that if the kids don't get the correct letters, there is Storm which cause the Ark to rock and depending on how many they got wrong ends up knocking out a certain number of Animal Letters into the water. The kids must act to retrieve them getting their hands wet, and not sprayed in the face!!

Better yet there is a Storm card deck. When they get it wrong a card is draw and the Storm deck has different penalties. "You get sprayed in the face". "You must go jump in the pool/tub". "You must run around the table and act like the animal you missed 3 times". I could think of some better one's if I tried :( hahahahahahaah

Finally, a valid use for plastic cards :)

I'll give it a TRY...

What if the goal was to "match" five (5) cards with their associated Letter + Animal. The cards themselves come in two (2) flavors: Easy and Hard.

The "Easy" cards are 26 cards of Letters ONLY. The "Hard" cards are 26 cards of Animals ONLY. The total is a 52 Deck of cards for both flavors. And like @Jason added, these cards could be made of PET 0.22mm plastic cards...

The game is to be played with BUBBLE BATH too! Kids love that stuff and now there is a purpose.

Five (5) cards are drawn and placed on the bathtub edge (side of the tub) in a lined up order. Either "Easy" or "Hard".

This game is to be played AT THE END of a bathing session...

The child's goal is to create enclosed areas in the Bubble Foam where he can safely put the Letter + Correct Animal. Five (5) of these areas must be created and act like "cages" to safely house the Animals. All Letters and Animals are in the bathwater.

Now here is the kicker... The game lasts "3 minutes" and you can use a small 3 minute SAND-TIMER (better when dealing with bathwater). Once the minutes have expired, the Adult opens the drain by removing the plug ... and all the Animals and Letters get "sucked away"! (Of course too big to go down the drain) ... but chaos will occur and the WHIRLPOOL will take all of the Animals and Letters AWAY...

And then the bath time is over! If in the "3 minutes" the child has managed to associate the correct Letters with the right Animals... He/she wins (and earns some reward - after the bath).

That's my take on it. ADDING the "Bubble Bath" to make the pens for the Animals... And then the WHIRLPOOL sweeps them away...!
