I went to my local Michael's craft store today and purchased a perler art starter kit for $12. As I stared at the box i wondered if anyone has ever made a board game out of perler art...
Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I googled perler art board games, but all I could find were simple tic-tac-toe games made out of perler beads.
But I am talking about a full (giant) board made out of perler beads! Or a bunch of those little octagon shaped board game pieces used in settlers for game variety.
I keep coming back to the image gallery here at (BGDF) and think the Pond Farr game might look nice in perler beads. Even the game pieces (fish, I assume) might look nice made out of standing perler art pieces :-)

This would be expensive (i know), but It would look nice for any custom games that are played amongst friends.

Perler Art

I have a friend who loves making sprites from old video games with perler art. He's done Pokemon, Link (from Legend of Zelda fame), and a host of other ones I'd not heard of. The method lends itself to recreating digital pixel art in a physical art form, and although it can take a lot of time the results can be breathtaking.

I've never seen a board game made with the stuff, but why not? :)

Maybe I should make a special

Maybe I should make a special edition of pond farr with perler beads! It would be hard to add icons to the board though :).
I do like the mosaic/pixalated look to the perler art. Maybe one could design a game that uses pegs (like battleship) inserted into the beads.
