Still moving ahead with Pocket Soccer/Football

My question is about using the words 'World Cup'? Can anyone clarify whether those two words are IP to anyone?

A quick Google search will

A quick Google search will tell you that, yes, "World Cup" is trademarked by FIFA.

That being said, Shaun Derrick published the rather excellent World Cup Game without a problem. He contacted FIFA and they were happy with him doing this, "so long as I did not use their logos or other licensable attributes" (his words).

So the sensible thing to do would be to approach FIFA and see if you can get similar permission or, if you don't want to do that or they turn you down, don't use the phrase "World Cup". Use "World Championship", "World Tournament" or whatever.

Thanks Steve - I've sent

Thanks Steve - I've sent Shaun Derrick an email on BGG regarding his dealings with the licensing people. Hopefully can get some good advice and permission to use it!
