the first link for the docs does not reach anything
/1...it? is rather suspicious as part of a url -
Not really my thing, but a few quickies..
Only three characters? And fixed fighting styles.. Does it expand smoothly?
Looks fairly complicated. Did you say "ages 8+" because you didn't know what to put, or did you say that because you've actually play-tested this with 8-year-olds?

8+ because I have tried, but then some say that chess is from five years and up, depends on the child I guess. It is not to complex or complicated, still it is not really a kids game.
The fixed styles is not more limitating as any other fighting system with actions, the limitation is in the presecense of actions.
Three sample characters so far, not hard to make a bunch (but not the focus at the moment, maybe later). It does expand as smoothly as any skirmish battle.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the game, but I'd think the characters were crucial to the game.. no?
I mean, Mortal Kombat is a combat system, but if they only released it with 3 characters, it wouldn't have done very well. I'd think the characters are the key to the whole thing. But again, maybe I'm misunderstanding how the game works.

You could make your own. I will do some more later.
The game is less character driven and more player skill dependent (as in chess or mimiature combat). But I would not say you missunderstod the game, not totally.
