Hello all!

Please review the following rules sheet and offer any critique that comes to mind. This is not intended for publication. It is intended for blind playtesting and sharing with publishers upon request.

http://www.let-off.com/bgames/scavengers/space-scavengers_instructions.pdf

The thorough game instructions are covered on pages 1 through 3. Quick reference sheets are on pages 4 and 5.

I also intend to put together a how-to-video that references the quick reference instructions from page 5.

If you have ANY feedback at all concerning clarity of the rules, please share it. Thank you!

Hey :) im sure the vid you mentioned will explain this, or some more card examples, but if your placing the sector cards face down how do you know whether there is an event associated with it?

Event Revealed = Place & Resolve Event

There's an Event Symbol on some cards, detailed on page 4.

Do you think a player will have the idea to place an Event card when they see the symbol? I tried to communicate this with the glossary on page 4.

Sorry, got confused! I missed

Sorry, got confused! I missed the where only 1 sector is face down. No I think it will be easy to see if there should be an event or not.

Things

On page 2:

at "4 b" This seems a little awkward to me. Also you use the concept of worse bidder before you define it. My (probably inadequate) suggestion is: Resolve event card (see event cards page 3 for more details.)

at "5" How are ties resolved for worst bidder?

at "7" You may want to explicitly state whether a sector be explored more than once.

Under "About Edge Cards" first paragraph second sentence. "..Captian gains the certain advantages for that round only." I pretty sure you mean turn here. Otherwise you may want to add a remove edge cards step from play to the end of round procedure.

on Page 5:

The Instructions Quick reference could have headers similar to: "Round Set Up", "How to play a round" and "End Game Scoring" to help quickly navigate to these topics. I see that space is tight here so good luck.

Fixes

Thanks for the heads-up on these, Fri. I've updated the original document, as follows.

- re-arranged the explanation of Worst Bidder and how to resolve ties for it.
- "Sector Cards are collected and added to a Captain's Winnings," to clarify that the card is removed from play when claimed/resolved.
- Changed "round" to "turn" as you noted.
- Reorganized the quick-reference instruction sheet, with headings for at-a-glance lookup.
- Changed all references of "player" to "Captain" for clarity.
- Detailed how Captains "opt out" of a bid when using an Edge Card that does not modify an Energy Card (found in the Edge Card section).

THANK YOU for all your input! The document is much tighter and helpful. The full instructions still fit into 3 pages, which I think is great.

If anyone else has questions or can point out any issues in these instructions, please do so. It's much appreciated!

Updated Instructions Link

I've updated the link above to the instructions. I was out of town, without Internet access, and wasn't able to change it until now.

Thanks for your patience! If you have any additional feedback, please post it here.

Thanks!
