Please criticise or make any suggestions on this game guide which I have been gradually making for months. It is just a labour of love- no expectation of ever making money from it.

Special Forces

Good evening Cloa!
First off, I really like the "team" concept of play. So often it is opponent versus opponent which is fun but the idea of strengthen those that are weak and those strengthen where you are weak for a common mission has always been fun for me. reminds me of my old "Twilight 2000" game days (holy crap I just really dated myself).

Two suggestions. I download your "doc" and it was very hard to read on the screen so I printed it out... I did not have paper tray out when it was printing so the printed papers slipped on floor. There was no page numbers so trying to get them in order again was a bear. Additionally, I would try to keep all the "tables" and "missions" on the same page, a couple of tables spanned across three papers (maybe a table a page(?)). it was very hard to read and keep track of.

Lastly, do you have a picture of how the game is laid out? it would have helped me picture/figure out mechanics.

Have a great holiday weekend!

Should I layout the mission

Should I layout the mission descriptions and elements descriptions (the Fluff) separately to save space in the mission and events tables? Thanks for your reply.

I give you description of the layout later.

I am Spit-Balling here

How about divide it up in three sections...

Intro - basic story, the build up, reason why we are here, back story(ies)
Equipment listing/ training - bringing people, equipment and training together
Missions - I like the past events (lynch, Noriega), how about future or "like to see events"

Again just spit-balling...

Can't have all the information in one place and on one page

You miss that I am going to have to split the mission information- I don't see how I can have all the description together with mechanical parts and have that table in one page. And similarly for events. I will probably make submission part cards so you can layout to see all at once- note you can any number of submission part cards in a game.
Rough layout of setup with some points.

It is always nice to see a fellow who realizes that their game is probably never going to see the publishing light. I feel less lonely this way :)

Try to tidy up your document a bit before sharing. With this I mean the placement of text and table's.

When looking at your table's. Perhaps have them on pages that are not portrait but landscape. In short, you would widen the table automatically. Having them also become smaller due to reconfiguration the empty spaces.

On the other hand, redesign the table's instead. So that you can keep them portrait. But less empty space.

Other then that, I think I will read through it when I am awake and sober ;)

When time, keep the link updated and post about progress.

Cheers,

Yes- I would like to fix

Yes- I would like to fix that. I am thinking I will fix the player cards graphic by splitting them up and putting them in a table.

Verbiage

Cloa513, I scanned through your rules, and I see a serious need for better verbiage to connect players to your Theme. I've got experience with military terms etc..... send me a PM and we can email back and forth to work on your terminology, and understanding special forces Techniques Tactics and Procedures better (TTP's)
I love your idea, and would love to help. Why wouldn't you be able to sell a game like this? Get ta work!!!
