Did the token cost increase on The Game Crafter?

Is it me or the cost of printed tokens dramatically increased recently. I did not record the prices fluctuations, so maybe they were always that high and never realised it.

For example, according to my calculations, a 1"x1" square token cost 73 cents each. Putting as little as 30 tokens in a game will cost more than 20$. On the other hand plastic poker chips cost less than 10 cents. I remember there was a difference in cost, but not a difference that high. I was expecting something like 15-20 cents per token.

I know that prices changes according to demand and supplies. So maybe there was an increase recently.

I don't think so.

If you're talking about this:

I think you get 80, not 8. Though you have to put them in your game in multiples of 8 (one slug).

Base Material Cost

Base Material Cost $5.60
Laser Costs Per Slug $0.30
Price Per Item Lasered: $0.11
Items Per Sheet 80
Items Per Slug 8
Slugs Per Sheet 10

So it costs 5.60 for a sheet of 80, plus 0.30 for each slug to laser it. So a full sheet of 10 slugs (80 chits) is 5.60 + 10*0.30 = 8.60, or $0.11 per chit.

Oh! wait a minute, the price

Oh! wait a minute, the price is per slug or per sheet?

The way I see it on the site is that 1 slug of 8 tokens is worth 5.90$, therefore 74 cents per token.

Why do they specify 5.90$. I thought it was 5.60+0.30. But the way you calculated it is you added 0.30 for each slug which is more than 5.90$. It's very confusing.

Maybe I should only look at "Price Per Item Lasered" to get the final price per token.

I believe when they print

I believe when they print something for you, you pay for each sheet of cardboard you use. $5.90. Each of those sheets can be used to make 10 slugs. But if you only want 2 slugs, they're still going to charge you for the whole sheet.

I think.

I know it works out that way if you order 80 of something, but I'm not sure what happens if you have a game that uses 40 of those chits.. can you make two games out of one sheet of cardboard? Or do you pay the $5.90 for that sheet and half of it goes in the recycling bin?

Ok, that is better. I can

Ok, that is better. I can always find a way to fill up an entire sheet. That is not a problem.

To be 100% certain...

I'm not really sure HOW the "Punch-outs" work... But if you visit TGC and open up the Chat Window... I'm sure one of the Admins can easily explain you how it works. I'm not saying that @Jay103 is incorrect... I'm just saying if you want to be 100% certain... Go into the Chat Window, say Hello and ask your question. Alisha, Tomrel, Colink, JT or another Admin might be online and can fully address all your concerns.

Go to the source to get your answers.
