It's official, Terra Prime has been published! I started working on that game 3 years ago right here at BGDF, and at 6pm last Thursday 12 boxes of it arrived at the Tasty Minstrel booth at BGG.con!

I almost didn't notice, but looked up just in time to see the first copy being sold. It felt pretty good! An hour later I ran a Winner Cleans Up event, and 16 people participated. From what I could tell, just about everyone who played the game all weekend really seemed to like it!

Now THAT's what makes designing games so worthwhile - I cannot describe the feeling of joy and pride I got when someone would go out of their way to come to the Tasty Minstrel booth for the express purpose of telling me that they played Terra Prime and really enjoyed it.

If it weren't for BGDF, Terra Prime probably wouldn't exist, so I would like to tip my hat to all of you as a community (even if you weren't around 2 or 3 years ago). And as a further "thank you" to BGDF, if you happen across a box of Terra Prime, check out the back and look for the BGDF logo (as well as a mention in the Credits section of the rulebook)!

Sorry if this sounds like I'm gloating, I am just really excited that my game is out there!

You're not the only one

You're not the only one who's excited. I'm proud to have been an early play-tester, and can't wait to get my pre-order copies of Terra Prime and Homesteaders!

Coming soon!

The preorders will be coming soon. Unfortunately, before they're sent out we're going to have to check each box of Homesteaders to make sure it's got the right punchboards. It turns out that on some boxes (about 10% so far) they screwed that up.

So that means flying to Atlanta, opening and checking 2000 boxes (and while we're at it we might open TP as well), add silica packs to address complaints of dampness, then re-shrinkwrap the games. Fun!

Congratulations! (and shucks!)

Of all the games I saw at BGG Con, Terra Prime was the only one I wanted to purchase (Honest!), and I totally forgot to! (I was really, really sleep deprived.) I only remembered once I was about 25 minutes away from the hotel, and I couldn't bear to turn myself around. I assumed (foolishly) that I'd be able to just hop over to my FLGS and snag it.

I should have realized that when they announced you had received your shipment, it was your first real honest-to-goodness shipment. That's flippin' awesome! Congratulations! I was really impressed with the quality of the components. Very nice indeed.

Now it's time for me to go place a pre-order for Terra Prime at my FLGS. (After I get done at work, that is...)

Wow, that's some pretty good praise! I hope you're not just sucking up to me because I'm taking over this website... ;)

Really, I'm glad you liked it. Your local game store should be able to get some really soon... a couple people have reported a missing punchboard in their copy of TP, so we might have to check all those as well.

Good to hear the exciting news, Seth -- congrats to you and Michael.

(Sorry to hear about the extra corrective work though.)
