Box Prototype

Regarding boxes.
Attached is my LCG box layout. I have no idea what I am doing in terms of graphic design / layout / content / legal fluff.

Please let me know of any errors or recommendations you notice (box is very small, 8 x 5 inches). Thank you!

Looks good. However, if I saw

Looks good. I like the front cover a lot. However, if I saw this on the shelf in a store, I'd have no idea of anything about the game. I don't know what a card looks like, I don't really know the theme except I guess it involves reviving the dead..

Use some of that blank space on the back to tell something about the game in some way. I'd say you don't really need all the credits on the back (or at least not as big) if you feel tight on space. I had a lot of trouble with my own box back, but eventually got there.. (it's around here somewhere on this site :) )

I would download The Game Crafter template

I "think" you're not allowing yourself enough "wrapping" around the edges. To compare, I would down the "medium pro box" template from "The Game Crafter".

https://www.thegamecrafter.com/publish/product/MediumProBox

I'm not saying it's a perfect match... I'm just saying some "allowances" may be a bit bigger than you anticipated.

The PNG template should help you figure out the right "proportions" for wrapping...

(Best to be safe) Cheers!

Lost Reply

Daniel, I had a long reply that I lost for some reason. In short: I think you should produce a QR code that goes with your LOGO. You have awesome content on your website so why not let people scan your box with their smart phone and get a Cool back story, or even a free comic book. I realize this will only be cool if it ends up in stores, but still.
I feel like you are marketing your Logo more than the game. I'd put some of that awesome art on the box sides. I'm imagining the dead coming out of the ground in a grave yard surrounding the box sides.
Anyway cool Website!! and your about page had me laughing out loud!!!

Oh yeah, having the crab on

Oh yeah, having the crab on all four sides doesn't make any sense to me. If this is on a store shelf, the side of the box is what people will actually see. You should have something that evokes what the game is about. The title.. doesn't really, except the word "duels". You need a zombie or something.

I did my box with something slightly different on each side, but thematically the same. Like, if you had a different undead peering out from each side.

I agree with the others...

I agree 100%. Remove the "Crab" and add a Zombie Head on the SIDES when tucked into bookshelf. You want the Zombie to attract people who like Zombie games to at least LOOK at the box cover. Again this is assuming that the game will be in stores.

But in general the Name and some kind of "relevant art" should be on two-sides... (Left and Right). The Top an Bottom (when place vertically in a bookshelf) are rarely seem by anyone... Just the name and here you can keep the crab on both of them IMHO.

Cheers!
