Curators - Project Image

Hi we got a lot of help with play testing our game on this forum so I wanted to let you all know that we are launching our Kickstarter campaign for Curators April the 21st of 2020. If you are interested you can register to be notified here

Thanks for all the help, let's hope we do well once it's time.

Hmm... Maybe you could provide some game information???

It's nice that you uploaded a box shot and some tiles in play... But we know NOTHING about the game! I know you must be excited about your KS date which is reasonably expectable but ... How can WE get excited if you don't provide any information concerning the game.

Also the layout is a little bit SPARSE (in the image). Ether just focus on the BOX in 3D itself and make it LARGER (and drop the tiles in play) or do the opposite add more tiles and bits to make the GAME seem larger.

But knowing nothing about the game is of no value to you or the people who might be interested in your game!

From the link (KS Link), the game is 1 to 4 player, plays in about 45 minutes, for ages 14+. It would seem like the game theme is about museum curatorship ... How this plays with several players IDK. Also how does the game handle a 1 Player game (Solo variant)?

Could be nice to answer some of these questions!

Same thing I say to

Same thing I say to everyone.. good luck, and also post the KS preview page here when you have it. It's NOT something that's top secret, and people here are helpful.

I had someone complain bitterly about my first KS page (with specifics), and I improved it immensely as a result.

Yes, I know this isn't your first KS :)

Also, how did you get so many followers already? That's a new feature since the last campaign I did, so I'm not quite sure how it works..

That is a really COOL feature...!

It's in the promotion section of your Kickstarter. I personally think it's great because you no longer NEED a "website" to collect e-mails. It's also really good for conversions to "notifiers" so ... you can essentially get a bunch of people to SIGN-UP for the Kickstarter (I know they don't have to commit to buying the game) and they can get notified when the KS launches!

Really cool feature!

I'd imagine TRYING to convert Facebook users to NOTIFIED people... Of course you need to LOG-IN and have a KS account. That could be prohibitive for some people... But on the other end, you are getting the targeted audience: KS backers!

Again really cool feature...

For those who want more info

Curators is a euro style tile-laying game with a new action selection mechanic, based on flippable tokens.

As curator for a venerable, but not so wealthy museum, you have to turn the tides by attracting new visitors. To your aid you have the museum staff, who can help you expand the museum and its collection. At your heels you have other museums competing for the prestigious title "museum of the year"

Thanks for the tips I added

Thanks for the tips I added some more info about the game. As for the solo version it's a campaign like thingy where you play trough puzzles that increase in difficulty.

We are marketing the prelaunch on facebook. So far we spent about $400 and have about 621 following. Unsure how many will convert.

From what I understand you'll need an AD

It's not so much about "followers" or "conversion". From what I understood you may get a handful of followers that convert... What I gather that you need to do is TARGETED "Marketing". What I mean is once your KS is Live, you need to create an AD campaign for the game with the RIGHT intended audience.

The difference being is "followers" LIKE things and say: "Oh wow that's cool." Where as "Marketing" is aimed at people TO BUY. It's an AD. It's not some comment you want to reach your people, it's not to grow the amount of followers, it's purpose is to CLICK a LINK and go to the KS page to MAYBE BUY the game.

I haven't done it... From what I understood this is the approach that works. It seems like people actually LIKE ADs and want them to pop-up and appear in the AD Section so that they can in turn CLICK (like click-baiting) and then maybe see if they LIKE the KS Page and want to invest into the game.

So don't think that you've got 600+ followers that ANY of those will convert. From experience ... Hardly any do. And from other designers it is very low too. But the AD thing seems to work for one of our designers... I don't have the experience in trying to do that... But he swears by it.

I think if my memory serves me right, he spend $200 over 2 weeks for the AD and got a good decent response (click-baiting) not 100% of conversions thought... Some thing for you to THINK about!

Cheers.

Note #1: I found the excerpt:

Quote:
I threw $500 at Facebook Ads and (using a custom referral link through Kickstarter) saw about $2000 in sales, and I know a lot of others who have thrown thousands at ads and gotten 5x or more back, so it's possible to do well.

Here's the THREAD in case you want to read some parts of it:

https://www.bgdf.com/forum/game-creation/publication/how-grow-game-organ...

Read James comments (@IWNGUG).

Note #2: Please take all advice with a "grain of salt". I'm not guaranteeing the same type of performance. This is merely one designer's experience. Nobody else from BGDF has seen seen more than maybe 5-10 conversions from Facebook. So what James is proposing is DIFFERENT and "seems" to work (from his own experience and that of others that he knows).

I just saw your ad and am one

I just saw your ad and am one of your followers! It was 660 the last time I looked. $400 for 600 sign ups is pretty good in my book.

I frequent a lot of KS groups on Facebook and there does seem to be a knack to generating leads but it's a lot of effort to get but worth it. I agree proper targeting is key, 24-40 year old men who like board games and kickstarter in the US, Canada, UK and Australia is a good start.

Looking forward to seeing your campaign up and running!

I think it's safe to assume that you have 600+ backers ALREADY

Don't get me wrong, but I think those are 600+ Backers. Not Facebook converts. What I mean is that currently 660+ people clicked to be NOTIFIED. Now that means a couple of things: 1> They have a Kickstarter Account 2> The want to be notified on launch.

Those are TWO (2) VERY IMPORTANT things. It's like you've already got your crowd... I don't know if all 660+ KS Backers will BUY/BACK your game... But hey, you're doing a WONDERFUL job so far!

In my mind that means at least 500 KS Backers for sure... Cheers!

We are targeting both men and

We are targeting both men and women. So far more men than women have signed up but still quite a few women.
