Draft image for the card "London"

Hi, i'm a graphic designer and recently i started getting interested in game designing.
I'm developing right now my first game but in the meanwhile i wouldn't mind to make some illustrations for other people and build a portfolio.
I'm gonna post a sample of the kind of stuff i'm designing for myself (All the stuff i post are draft that i make to refine the feeling of the game graphically speaking) so if you are interestd on having me on board of your project just tell me :-)

Heya Tonno I haven't seen you

Heya Tonno

I haven't seen you around before so if this is the case - welcome to BGDF :), you seem like the kind of guy that would fit right in here!

Ok, well I am making a post-apocalyptic carvan game called AtomPunk currently, I am gearing it towards getting kickstarter funding and so far all erception seems poitive. The rules are WIP (work in progress) but I have a clear idea of what it's going to look like. Check out http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7422734 to see some artwork examples.

Basically each card will be horizontal and will be a "caravan element" that will be manipulated by the player (Think magic: the gathering crossed with race for the galaxy in a fallout universe) there is a list of card definitive on the post as well. All of these will need illustrating and if you would like to have a go - I would be very happy for you to give it a shot :)

Looking at your picture, I can't quite tell but it looks to me like it may be photo-manipulation: is this the normal kind of illustration you do? Or do you use traditional media, photoshop brushing etc?

cool :)

Hi! thank you for the

Hi! thank you for the welcome! :-)
I registered here couple of days ago and i'm trying to figure out where to post and how it works here, you folks are awesome!

I read about your game and it looks great. As a hard core fan of the fallout serie, your game fills my heart of joy! I will take look to the list of cards to see what can i do!

I work with photoshop brushing, photomanipulation and illustrator and this is the stuff i usually make!

I've got three questions about your game:
1) Have you got any idea when is gonna be released, it would make a perfect gift for my brother's birthday to play with him :-D
2) Do you still accept card suggestions :-)

Hey Tono! Great news :) Well

Hey Tono! Great news :)

Well I would prefer photoshop brushing and illustrator stuff for this game, photo manipulation is great but I would prefer the whimsical nature of proper "colour on paper" style art for the cards (see the ol' steamer for the kind of look). I even have Stefanparis's permission to use any of his pieces in his deviant art gallery for AtomPunk (http://stefanparis.deviantart.com/gallery/) which are all AMAZING photo manipulations, but still I don't think that the style quite fits the nature of AtomPunk.

Good to hear you are a fallout fan, you will appreciate then what I mean by 1920's retro-future pinup glam AtomPunk - ace.

For your questions:
I am hoping to put it on before christmas for kickstarter - but it is fast approaching, so it may well be in the new year. Then it will need approx 2/3 weeks printing - so all likelyness is in a good few months time. BUT about your bro's birthday, yes I am still taking card suggestions in this thread: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/703701
What I would be willing to do if you want, if you create a good number of illustrations for AtomPunk is to fully credit you in the game info, and we can put some clever reference to your bro in one of the cards? Either put a little text on the card art of his name, or call the card something clever - or whatever you think he would like. And yes I would be absolutely happy to send you a sexy promo version of the game (with some of the exclusive cards) when/if it gets kickstarter funding :)

Do you think he would like that?

Also if the illustration is bad, I am very sorry but I will have to decline, I will only be using awesome art in the game (even though it makes me sound like a bastard) I have aleready declined offers from some artists on deviant art because they weren't up to scratch.
Let me know if you still fancy putting some ideas across :)

I would say: start with "Solar Harvester: a mobile collection of wasteland style solar panels " and "Diesel Developments Ltd. Safety Team: A twisted super evil bunch of disel powered robot workers originally intended to be the workforce safetey monitors - gone mad"

Let me know if you need anything more my buddy :)

Hi Sam, I love the ol Steamer

Hi Sam,
I love the ol Steamer and i will see what i can do. The "Good 'ol colour on paper illustration" is not my best field of application, let me think about it :-)

By the way, not accepting everything for your game doesn't make you sound like a bastard, you sound like a PRO ;-)

Illustration or not, birthday or not, when the game will come out i'm gonna buy a copy, i know that with or without any in-game mention my brother is gonna be super happy.

Awesome! Great to hear, and

Awesome! Great to hear, and thanks for the compliment, don't get many of those nowadays ;)

Yes that's great, when I said "colour on paper" by the way, I think I said it wrong, I don't mean "pastels and water colour" I mean, "brush" colour as opposed to photomanipulation, basically like the Ol' Steamer is at the moment, photoshop brush strokeds, or, line drawing inked in photoshop - that kind of look :)

Well, be happy to speak to you here but the forrums software here is so-so and boardgamegeek is a bit better, I would (anyway) suggest you get a bgg account if you haven't already. At BGG there are more people - but without being an arse, they are seem less knowledgable than som of the pros here. Both forums are good :) and you can reach me at either (as said, bgg will be more responsive)

Really happy to have you with me Carlo, I look forward to everything!
