Hello

I wonder if someone can help me. Unsure if this is the right place to announce this. I'm after some experienced illustrators to work on various projects. Please pm me your work and let me know your availiability please.

I'll pm you back with further information and questions.

regards

Finding Illustrators

I suspect that many of us on here who are in the latter stages of completing games are in the same position you are.

I do have some advice, though. Call up the Design or Studio Art department of your local University. They will almost inevitably have someone there in charge of job placement, and students (often highly talented ones) are famous for their willingness to work cheap.

Thank you for your

Thank you for your suggestion.

Where else can I find illustrators? I already have a great illustrator, it's just that I have so many projects and time scales contraints means it's too much for one person to do.

I've seen a few posts on the BoardGameGeek game design forum from designers seeking to hire artists or artists looking for work that have got what look like useful responses. Don't know how big the talent pool lurking there is but probably worth a shot if you haven't tried already.

I've had a look at the boardgamegeek site but just can't find the relevant section. There's all sorts of fun discussions there but can't seem to locate anything about illustrators..I mean where do I post such a request apart from 'other stuff' or something titled like that.

How professional are you looking for?

I am by no means a professional but I have worked with a few graphics apps and have dabbled in illustrations and graphics. The only commerical activities I have pursued as of to date is texture sales but would like to expand my portfolio so if the job is right and I would be willing to work for very cheap just for the oppurtunity to grow my experience.

What kind of graphics are you looking for?

How many different graphics would you need?

What is the price range you are looking at?

When do you need the graphics by?

If you are interested give me a private message and I can send you some sample work and talk about a possible price. Again, this would be mostly to build my portfolio so if you are looking for an inexpensive option I might be able to help. :)

The Game Design subforum was

The Game Design subforum was the location I was thinking of:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/forum/15/forum/1

Have been a few posts I've spotted such as:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/334212

May not suit your particular needs but looks like some others have had luck with it in the past.

Edit: Also just spotted this tip on another thread there:

"A great place to find game illustrators is the forums over at rpg.net
look in the "About the Industry" section there is a forum for freelancers. "

Deviant Art

In a few discussions with local small publishers Deviant Art was identified as a good place to find artists for small press games. I haven't used them and so I can't comment directly. but among others I know that Ted Alspach of Bezier Games has been successfully sourcing artists through Deviant Art.

Art Department at your service!

DeLano offers an art department. They usually do games that we are also printing, but they are amenable to doing outside projects as well. Send me a PM and I'll get you all the info you need.
