Dun dun dunnn!

Howdy! I am excited to tell you about an exciting project I am working on.

The publication of a strategy board game called Dragon Valley. You can likely tell from the title that the game is fantasy themed. Players take turns dividing items such as knights and archers, building materials for blacksmith shops and towers, special powers and even attackers. The attackers consist of dragons, orcs and battering rams that emerge from mountain passes into each player's lands. After dividing, other players select the group of items they prefer and leave the remainder with the player who did the dividing. After that, players use special cards to interfere with each others plans. The last step each round is for players to setup defenses, destroy the attackers or laying siege on the orc strongholds scattered throughout Dragon Valley.

I have started a Kickstarter project in order to raise the additional funds required to complete the manufacturing of Dragon Valley. Kickstarter is a service by Amazon that provides artists, indie film makers, local bands and board game designers a method to promote and fund their projects. The project creators provide awards, usually in the form of the final product to people who donate, like a pre-order system. The coolest thing is that donations are only charged when the project is successful and the transaction is secure. That ensures the project creators can produce a high quality product once fully funded and not have to worry about refunds if the project does not create enough interest. If a project is not fully funded by the set date, the sponsors are never charged. No risk sponsorship!

The retail price of Dragon Valley will be $59.99. For sponsoring Dragon Valley through Kickstarter at the $60 level, I will include three cards that will not be included in the standard game. These cards provide unique special actions that add to the game's excitement. I also have a special offer for those of you who are not interested in board games, but want to help support me and my dream. Click on the Kickstarter link below to see all the details. It also contains a neat video about the game.

Keeping the wheel of karma rollin'

I just sponsored to the tune of $60. I'm truly and completely impressed by the artist you got and the quality of artwork he's producing! Nice, nice work. I think it's going to be great!

I sincerely hope it makes...

Supporting each other - Dragon Valley & Protospiel-South

Jonathan, thanks! I am humbled to have you support me.

Notice the plug I subtlety put in for Protospiel-South? :-)

I believe in dollar-voting for things you support.

Humbled? Wow. I'm flattered that you're humbled. =)

...and it's a good game. I really enjoyed it and I want to see it professionally produced. I think it'll be fantastic!

I certainly did. It was unexpected, and it brought a smile to my face. Thank you.

Anticipation

I'm really looking forward to getting it.

On a tangent, I hope there is a trend for more games of this type -- I see Dragon Valley as similar to Vlaada Chvatil's (sp?) Dungeon Lords in type -- a Euro wolf in Thematic clothing, as it were. I see this trend as a cousin to the one in wargames for "waros" -- wargames with distinctly Euro-game-like mechanisms, like Struggle of Empires or Friedrich. I hope the established success of Euro/thematic games like DL and Chaos in the Old World and hopefully DV will fuel similar growth in this area.
