So, I have seen a few, awesome space themed games on here in many stages. It made me wonder, as I have read in the past... what about the power of cooperation. I know there are many logistics, many draw backs both in creative freedom and practicality. Setting that aside for a moment...

What if... A segment of the people creating stand alone space games found a way to make the games compatible. Some way to have one game feed off of or boost another game. This could be closely or vaguely related.

Why: As hard as it is to break through in the business, as tough as it is to deal with the marketing/production side. It might make sense to build on the strengths and wealth of ideas, while playing to the weaknesses, so to speak. A number of space games all unique, and inter-related could be an attraction for a publisher, or stronger in self-publishing.

Why Not: Money seems the first red flag, people seem to have dreams, and hopes and sharing is not something most people in the world have learned to do well. Also, people enjoy creative freedom, and sacrificing any amount for the trade off, is often unacceptable. Logistics of communicating, deciding and ensuring power struggles (again the world has it's share of disagreements, and ineffective communication.

I don't have a space game, or a vested interest in a project like this... Just ever hopeful that something like this is possible. Maybe it is a game in itself :) How to merge and manage an empire based on divers self-driven eccentrics. Not to say that any of you fit this bill at all, just day dreaming, as usual.
