Hello fellow game designers,

is there anyone who wants me to mention his game or game design related project on my podcast?

I am willing to spend some minutes on each podcast episode to point my audience to interesting games and projects.

Maybe you have a current project at Kickstarter, are looking for playtesters, or want to increase your reach for your blog, podcast or Youtube page.

In my opinion, we as game designers should help each other out wherever possible and this is my way to help you. My listeners are gamers and game designers interested in card and board games (especially, but not limited to fantasy games).

If you are interested let me know and I’ll have a look at your project to see if it could be a fit for my audience. It is 100% free.

Cheers
Marvin aka Dr-Draft

Very cool. :-)

What's the name of your podcast? Also, what is your target audience?

I successfully funded a Kickstarter last winter and fulfilled the game in July. The game is called Portals and Prophets. It's a gateway family game with maybe slightly more weight than Ticket to Ride. Not sure if that is your target audience or not.

My website is portalsandprophets.com and I'm also selling the game on Amazon.

Hello,

Yes we might be interested as well (working on our game Headhunter). We would also be interested in what the name of your podcast is and some more information. Our website is legendsofravenhall.com. Also, regarding the above mentioned game Portals and Prophets, we can vouch that it is an awesome game.

Thanks

Austin

And his target audience is designers and gamers interested in RPGs. He is working on his OWN RPG Card game and this is part of his "process" to record his thoughts on various aspects of his "design".

His name is Marvin and he lives in Germany.

Yes @Andrew is a great designer too! How are SALES of "Portals & Prophets" going??? Did you have any "extra" copies left over after your KS??

I believe you did have some... from memory. I can't remember if it was 500 or closer to 250! Have you been selling on Amazon or your own web store?

BTW I checked your BGG ratings and comments, I gave the game a SOLID "8"! I guess much like you, having 100 or so votes doesn't give your game an overall GEEK RATING. It says you only have 14 votes... :(

I don't know how many people it takes... I've looked into the matter a bit and it says "they" (BGG) inject 5.5 votes to average out the score if you have only a few votes. Larger games with more votes will undoubtedly be "unaffected" since their volume of votes will control the majority of the votes placed by the gamers.

Anyway considering your backers already have the game... It's hard to have content to "entice" your backers to VOTE for your game further on BGG. By Adding P&P to their collection and VOTING (from 1 to 10), that means that your overall "Average Score" can improve significantly...

Check it out. From your experience, I doubt we will do much better... We are no "Scythe" with upwards of 35,000+ voters!

Yeah, I haven't really focused on BGG at all (maybe I should). I've never told anyone to go vote there and I'm guessing a lot of my audience are casual gamers and Christians who were intrigued by the Bible theme, but hadn't played many modern board games. Many of them may have never even heard of the site.

I've been happy with the sales so far! (Of course I don't have anything to compare it to.) Last month I sold 115 games (which is by far my best month so far.) Outside of the Christmas season I've averaged about 1-2 game sales each day since I started selling the game on Amazon.

Before I started selling on Amazon and was only selling on my website the sales were much more sparse, so Amazon definitely makes a difference.

Also I recently started advertising on Amazon (spending about $5 a day) and that makes a very notable difference. I'd definitely recommend trying it out. I've gotten a lot more success from it than any other form of advertising I've tried. Perhaps because when people go to Amazon they are already in the buying mindset.

Thanks questccg for providing this information for me :-)

My podcast can be found by searching for "Nerdlab" on any of the common podcast apps (iTunes, podcatcher, spotify, etc.) or via my website http://nerdlikeaboss.com

My audience are gamers and developers of board and card games. We often have an rpg like fantasy focus, but I know from the responses that my audience is not limited to this genre. Therefore, I am also willing to feature other games as well.

I will shortly send personal messages to everyone who is interested in getting featured. To be honest I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of feedback. I got round about 100 projects that want to become mentioned.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. no not all of the 100 people came from bgdf. I also used my social media channels and other game design forums to search for interested people.

@Marvin: Can you tell us which OTHER "Game Design Forums" you are talking about??? Maybe there are other communities "out-there" that I am not aware of ... Aside from BGDF and Board Game Geek (BGG), I am not aware of any "FORUMS". Anyways if you could share this information with us that would be great.

I also found this offer in the BoardGameGeek forum in the board game designers section:

Besides bgfd and bgg, I am also a member of the game design reddit groups and some facebook groups. Probably the members of these are overlapping, but I got some very nice feedback on specific game design questions on reddit and facebook in the past. If you don't know these communities I would recommend to check them out.

I eventually will want to put

I eventually will want to put my project idea on your podcast, when it will be more solid.

It's a command line software for playing turn based strategy video game or board games that can be used for prototyping, or creating new games. This is phase 1, and I started coding a few weeks ago.

Not sure if I can have something solid by the end of the summer, I might not have enough games at that point. I'll try implementing some public domain board games as examples, or make new games of my own.

Phase 2 will be to make the games designed with the engine above work in graphic mode on PC and Android.

For people who want to follow the code project, it can be found here:

https://gitlab.com/larienna/javalib_blackbook

Right now, there is not much to see besides: the code compiles on my machine.
