Hi folks! Not sure if I'm doing this poll thing right, but I'm posting a link here, since I'm not sure where it gets listed otherwise!

Not sure why the poll isn't showing up on the recents, but I went ahead and threw in my 2 cents! Good to see you stick with your design. I'm on my way to Tabletopia as well :)
But I can't figure out why "honestly" you want to even consider a name that is hard to pronounce. We already have troubles with getting attention to our "games" ... removing an obstacle such as not being able to pronounce the name correctly - well in my opinion; is a smart idea.
If "Lords of Alchemy" is not taken already (and from BGG it looks available) - be freaken happy!!! That's an amazing game name.
Let me check GoDaddy too... Well it says it's TAKEN. Is that YOU? NL = Netherlands... If it's you, well then FANTASTIC!!! Otherwise, "bummer"...
Maybe if you teach people how to pronounce Chrysopoeia, like spell it out in parts. Example; Cold Cah-Ol-D. Thanks you could keep the name.

Chrysopia: Lords of Alchemy.

Personally I think "Moo Lah Cash Sholla" is a better example! LOL Something only Jamey Stegmaier knows... LMAO.
I suppose I could try the phonetic pronunciation underneath, using the same cool font??
Yeah. That could work but it's your game, that's just my advice.
Do what you will with it.

I just wanted to try it & see how it looks.
It is true that it's hard to let go of my personal favorite! I don't mind the simpler spelling of "Chrysopia - Lords of Alchemy", but I do think "Lords of Alchemy" is a pretty cool title too - and the survey seems to favor that as well!
Even though the focus of the game is Alchemy, turning lead into gold isn't the main point. It does factor in, but the goal is to use Alchemy to banish the Chaos seeping into the world. So maybe "Chrysopoeia" or "Chrysopia" belongs more in a subtitle than in the main title.
I think "Lords of Alchemy" sounds way cooler... It's a GOOD, maybe GREAT "Game Name". Now all you need to do is design a game that is reputable enough for such a grand name.
Again, this is my personal opinion, but "Chrysopia" is STILL "hard to pronounce"... "Kri-So-Pee-Ya" To me even phonetically or the improved written version -- are just HARD name to say.
If you are a linguist, you should understand how that WORD is a word FAR DETACHED from common words used in the English language. That should be enough to say: "Hmm... Maybe I don't want such a difficult word to be the name of my game." And go with something less difficult: "Lords of Alchemy" where it's SIMPLE to understand what the game is ABOUT.
See that's the thing. YOU KNOW what "Chrysopia" IS. Gamers who play a TON of games -- but are NOT linguists will NOT know what it means. And it furthermore makes it strange that "turning lead into gold" is not really the ACTUAL theme of the game... Only perhaps a subset of the game... More confusion.
Again, it's YOUR game. I'm just trying to help (and hopefully) you see how choosing something hard to pronounce, is NOT the objective of the game and takes so much prevalence ... may not be the best route to choose.
Again just my $0.05... I'm not the one SELLING the "Lords of Alchemy" domain... If I was, I would be like: "Forget Chrysopia, BUY Lords of Alchemy for a ton of cash..." LOL And furthermore Google doesn't RECOGNIZE "Chrysopia" only the long version "Chrysopoeia"... Just to let you know...

All excellent points questcg - and I have been leaning more and more in that direction.
I should mention that even though creating gold in your Alchemy isn't the main focus of the game, the Chrysopoeia/Chrysopia symbol on your Alchemy dice also acts as a "wild" symbol, making it an exciting and important part of completing experiments, so it does make the symbol feel like a fairly big part of the game, even though the gold that is created with it is more like a bonus.
I think that's why I feel like the word belongs somewhere in the title - not because of the gold, but because of the power of the symbol in the game.
Still, I think "Lords of Alchemy" does work better to describe the overall game, and to convey something about the content. And yes, no barriers to pronunciation!
So what about "Chrysopoeia" as part of a subtitle? I know the game doesn't "need" a subtitle, but it's worth considering. Might as well use the more Google-friendly & authentic spelling there...
"Chrysopoeia Domains", or "Chrysopoeia and Chaos" or "Chaos and Chrysopoeia". Maybe I need to do another poll for just a subtitle!
And well I thought of this:
Lords of Alchemy: Chrysopoeian exploits.
And this came from looking up definitions and seeing what came up. That's what I came up with.
That's the best I could do... Other ideas:
Lords of Alchemy: The Art of making of Gold!
But this presupposes that the game is MOSTLY about making gold. Where my first title is a little more subtle.
Maybe as a subtitle it might be good. But NOT "Chrysopoeia and Chaos". that just plain sound illogical. What's "Chaos" got to do with Alchemy and making gold.
IF the game was MORE about GOLD MAKING, I would go with the 2nd title. Because it reinforces the part about making gold.
Post up some of your own ideas too... Let's all see what we come up with.
Cheers.
A hybrid of those would be:
Lords of Alchemy: Entropy and Chaos.
To me, that sounds better and is well is probably more "technically" accurate. However Chemistry is different from Alchemy... But it sounds good to me... And I define "Entropy" as "a measure of the disorder or randomness of a system." Disorder breeds "Chaos" LOL
Lords of Alchemy:The Art of Chaos
Lords of Alchemy:Art of Entropy
Lord's of Alchemy:The Entropy of Chaos
Towers of Chrysopia:Alchemy and Chaos
Chrysopia and Alchemy:Wicked Lord's
Lords of Chaos

Some pretty cool ideas there! I'm in the middle of a long road trip so I'm thinking all this over, and hopefully I'll settle on something soon!
I quite like "Chrysopoeia - Lords of Alchemy" - simply because it may allow you to do expansions/follow-up games in the same universe/setting, and therefore have "Chrysopoeia - Chemical Revenge" (..or something... :P)
My personal opinion when it comes to pronunciation, is that it doesn't matter to me. I'll read it and pronounce it in my head in my own way, and when talking with friends, we will all know what we're talking about.
I think that I wouldn't add the phonetic pronunciation below the title.. unless having that 'style' of explanation fits with the rest of your theme/rulebook. Just my thoughts :)
Well folks, as attached as I am to "Chrysopoeia - Lords of Alchemy" for a title, I'm thinking both from the poll, this thread, and from other sources that I'm probably better off going with my runner up "Lords of Alchemy" title. I really do like it - it's just hard letting go of a name that became so much part of the game's identity for me!
I might still keep "Chrysopoeia and Chaos" as a subtitle, but it's probably not really necessary. Chrysopoeia is an important symbol in my alchemy, so it's an exciting part of the game when you roll it, and Chaos is the looming threat that could end the game for everyone. So, both important elements, but they don't HAVE to be on the cover!

Glad you like Lords of Alchemy, & thanks for checking on it! Still living in Texas for another year, and won't be anywhere near the Netherlands, so it's not me. I guess I need to research "Lords of Alchemy" further. But there's one reason to go with Chrysopoeia right there - no one else is using it!
It appeals to me as a linguist, but I don't know if it has much appeal to others. Chrysopia is easier to pronounce from the spelling, isn't it?
Anyway, glad you like Lords of Alchemy as an option! Seems to be gaining ground on the poll as of now, tho it's still my second favorite.
