I might need to take a short break

I spent all week on my prototype and play testing my new game. Then Friday night was a play test with a group of people who'd never seen the game before. Saturday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM was playing games with friends (not the prototype, just other games). Is it any wonder that Saturday night I dreamed about a game that doesn't exist? I actually woke up several times in the night, thinking about problems with the mechanic (I remember it was a worker placement game) and about the parts I liked and didn't like and what needed to change.

What I didn't do was remember, or write down what this dream game was about.

It might be time to take a day or two break from games :)

Having a dream about

Having a dream about designing a game is no reason to take a break.

Waking up cuddling a cardboard box full of meeples is.

How do you do that?

So, how do you take a break from playing? Work overtime?

I usually take a break by

I usually take a break by creating something else I like having multiple projects in work, that way when I cant find the urge to work on one I work on another. Like Ill be making a map for a game, run into a dead end, work on my book I am righting, hit a block, either find out what was needed in my map, or work on a paper game(cards boards etc.)
So far its worked for me...course my book is only on chapter ten, my main game is only just getting to test phase, and my card game is just begining hahaha

Glad

Glad I'm not the only one who does that with projects!

Sounds like you could use a short break, though. Time to go back to author mode?

no kidding...I really need to

no kidding...I really need to reread what I have, the last I checked it I made a few very important mistakes, including renaming an important character, not intentionally.

It is always nice to know others have a similiar way of thinking/acting...makes ya feel a little less insane O.o
