Simplicity of Tabletop designing

Well I found my old Nintendo DSi and got tempted again to play Galactrix (Puzzle Quest), it's sort of a cross between Bejeweled and an RPG. The setting is space-oriented (Sci-Fi).

But quite frankly after playing the game again - I long to continue designing "Tradewars - Homeworld".

The reason that I cannot progress is that I am waiting for some preliminary artwork to be done. Specifically the Cover of the game's box and three (3) pieces of artwork.

I know the game is not perfect - yet. But I feel that a Dual (2 player game) is MORE entertaining than Galactrix. I have seen the game played (in a dual) and I like watching how players try to out do each other... There's something very satisfying seeing players *battle it out* (so to speak).

I really want to speak with the Publisher concerning the artwork and their overall impression of the game. They are waiting to see what kind of artwork my artist can produce (So am I...)

This Holiday season is *nice* but with so many things pending, I wish I could work further on the project.

Is it just me or is Tabletop designing more appealing that gaming???

Different Strokes

I find both pursuits satisfying in their own ways, but as these activities share so little in common, it's almost impossible to make a fair comparison between them on any other dimension (besides general satisfaction).

My present situation is both socially and culturally isolated, so I'm not able to play games with anyone. Consequently, I spend my time almost exclusively at the creative end of table top gaming.

Well it is just you, and

Well it is just you, and every other person who feels the draw of design.

When I hit a wall or run out of steam when designing, I take a mental break by playing a game. I just have to be careful not to get sucked into something like an MMO.

@questccg: same over here -

@questccg: same over here - ATM i spend most of my time waiting for my artist to finish more card art for Gods & Minions.

But, to answer your question: Design is much more appealing than gaming to me. But i prefer boardgames over computer games. What i enjoy is taking a creative break and play old games (really old games) to see how the designers did their thing.
