Thinking about older game ideas...

I decided to post this because of a "itch" I had the other night. I know I said "Quest Adventure Cards(tm)" (Quest) version 2.0 would be permanently suspended. And it is true, until now it has been on HOLD.

Another design "Crystal Heroes" is also on HOLD too.

These are game IDEAS that don't have enough "meat" or have failed in early playtesting (Was the game FUN? No = shelve it...)

But something about Quest v2.0 has been making me THINK.

If I was to "revive" the franchise/brand, it would have to be an EPIC game. I mean something you could play quickly and many rounds. A game that has tight strategy but is simple. I shelved Quest v2.0 because I felt there was no where I could go with the game...

I was wrong.

Yesterday night, I found myself thinking about a DEEP strategy game. Only a flash of what could be. Something with D&D style statistics and perhaps dual-sided cards with screens. IDK that's what I got a FLASH... And then it got me thinking about "Crystal Heroes" (CH). CH was an attempt to transform a "Video Game" into a "Card Game". The attempt was unsuccessful: the game was boring and took too much time to resolve.

So where does that leave me?

Still "questioning" if indeed Quest v2.0 can be made into a challenging game players could enjoy. Still A LOT of thinking to do... It will require more reflection, as I try to balance between CH and Quest v2.0.

However I FEEL like there could be a CHANCE of making a simple but good game. One of the primary mechanics I am looking at is the "Legacy" mechanic: being able to alter the cards... in different ways.

I need to wait for some more inspiration. And so I wait!

Don't forget, “Your first ten

Don't forget, “Your first ten games will suck — so get them out of the way fast. ”
Maybe it's better to apply your improved expertise to a fresh design, instead of trying to fix your early creations?

True - but...

Well I have the mindset that if it's not EPIC, it's not Quest! :P

I would love to come up with a better game - than currently. Something with much deeper strategy.

Trust me those 10 sucky game ideas - been blown through already.

It just that Quest v1.0 was my first game. It was a simple game - for what I knew of modern gaming (next to nothing). Back then all I thought was "Make the game and get a distributor to sell to stores..." Sounded pretty easy, and I was going down that road. But I was only able to reach so far and did not manage to get a deal.

Anyways IF I can think up a simple game for Quest v2.0 ... maybe I might produce the game. IDK. I'm still thinking about it. But it has got to be EPIC... :P
