Well in a week 34 total people gave input, and basically 3 out of 4 desire a submissions tracker.

At this point I am still up in the air about how to approach this submission tracker. While I see the potential, I wonder if other features like a nicely integrated GDS system would prove more worthwhile in the short term.

With the said, I am willing to put the submission tracker on the list as a desired feature, but I would request that members PLEASE respond to this comment with a top 5 list of features/options they would love to see on BGDF. From the responses I will put out a poll/vote to help determine an order that I will consider implementing the requests.

MY LIST
1) GDS
* each admin area to create monthy GDS event (title, criteria, restrictions, etc)
* automated submission deadline cut off date/time & automated voting date/time cutoff (submission to voting will transition at various cutoff times)
* allows members to submit during submission timeframe via an entry form
* anonymous display of all GDS entries during submission voting
* once voting timeframe cutoff, results revealed along with submitter names
* User account page will contain a my previously submitted GDS entries listing for easy access to old entrie/information
* Generic GDS listing page for all old GDS and GDS entries (archive)

2) Column/Article
* Submission form that allows members the ability to submit a column/article covering some aspect of game design.
* Editor role to proof and approve column/article
* Once approved member column/article will appear on front page etc.
* Listing page (archives etc)
* Possible category level association to allow for better listing page/output

3) HOW-TO
* Special entry area that allows members the ability to enter a step by step HOW-TO.
* Ability to add 1 to MANY step descriptions
* Each step description may also allow for an associated image upload.

4) Submissions Tracker
* Entry form for members to enter various stats about a submission to publisher
* Update status/info throughout life of submission
* Listing pages (archive/viewing of current and/or old submissions)
* Possibly some statistical view by each publisher (type of themes submitted to a publisher, accept/reject ratio, possibly mechanic/theme related stat (ie Joe Publisher has accepted 10 Zombie theme games, which is most based on current submission information, Joe Publiser has rejected 18 games involving Dice)

5) CONTENT
* All I can say for this one is that there is a ton of old design content sitting on the archived sites that needs to make the journey to this site. IN a useful productive method.

My personal #1 would be

My personal #1 would be content (Dave's #5). So would my #2. ;-)

Then I follow it with things that make it easier for members to add to the shared, central content (as opposed to individual-based, dynamic content such as the forums and journals), so ...

My #3 = Dave's #2

My #4 = Dave's #3

Finally, my #5 = Dave's #1 (GDS admin updates).

Bryk, The other point of this

Bryk,

The other point of this post was for everyone to ALSO give their possible thoughts/ideas on additional features they would like to see here at BGDF.com.

So while I am happy you rated my items in the order you prefer, do you happen to have any other features, content types, ideas that would be useful additions to BGDF.com?

Viewing Topics

One thing I have seen on a couple of other forum type sites is something I think makes viewing posted pages a lot easier.

Firstly, the topics are highlighted/coloured to show if there has been replies/comments since the user last viewed the topic.

Secondly, when a user clicks on the topic, they are taken to where they last viewed that topic. E.g. if a topic has 3 replies and I've viewed them all, then 2 more replies are added, when I next view that topic it will automatically scroll down to the last reply I viewed (in this case 3), meaning the two new replies are on screen. Obviously this might not work with the types of content where replies are threaded rather than displayed in a single long list.

Actually, I thought your list completely overlapped my top items (just in a different order) ... so, I don't have any new items to add. Figured you'd be interested in my version of the priority order.

Good Stuff

I like all your ideas, as well as the forum enhancement idea.

Ranking those, my top would be GDS (it gets people involved in the site on a regular basis, might as well automate it and flesh it out more), Columns/Articles, and content.

Although, columns/articles are really serving the same purpose as people just posting interesting topics in the forums, no? Unless you mean enhancing it in some way, such as automatically publishing a stub and link to the front page (like News items). This is a community site and as such it is really up to us (the community) to generate this sort of content -- maybe a column/article system would encourage/facilitate that.

Hi Zzzz Thank you for making

Hi Zzzz

Thank you for making the site what it is. An item for the wish list:

Give users the ability to flag what services they offer ie publishing, making prototypes, playtesting etc. It would save a lot of the repeat queries that pop up. Similar to the bgg badges I guess. Is that allowed?
