Hello BGDF!

My name is Dewey and I've been a gamer for as long as I can remember. One of the best part of any game in my opinion, is figuring out how it works and how it can be made better. With this mindset I knew immediately this was the place to be!

A little about myself: I'm a pencil pushing, working man and in my free time I play games of all kinds. I have a nice little group of like minded friends so we typically get together every weekend and play boardgames and/or tabletop RPGs.

When it comes to the tabletop RPGs(exclusively DnD for our group) I typically play the DM. Although I enjoy the workings of the game from a player point of view, I feel the DM role best suits my nagging imagination to create the worlds and new extras I bring to our own play experience. Always trying something new as DM has I guess sparked or fed my desire to finally create a game of my own. With that said, my first game already has a rough prototype and had it's first playtest with my fellow group above. The name of the game is Creature and I figure I'll post more about it somewhere more appropriate than my intro.

As a game designer with no qualifications or experience in the big leagues(publishing/playtesting outside my group of friends) I figured this would be the place to start! The forums are all very friendly and helpful so I've finally mustered up enough courage to join the forums in hopes that I can share my ideas and future ideas with all of you and make something of them that everyone can enjoy! Looking forward to future brainstorming!

You have to start somewhere.

You have to start somewhere. Like joining most gangs it starts with jumping in.

If you didn’t know jumping in is when you allow the gang to give you a beat down to prove your tough. So I propose you post the rules to one of your games and let us beat on it.

Why? It’s important as a designer to be able to take criticism even if it doesn’t sound constructive at the time and use that to improve your game. That’s why our mantra is Playtest, Playtest, Playtest.

Let the beatings begin!!!

Oh, and welcome to BGDF

Sounds good man, nice cool single word name. For me and your expereince it sounds like some kind of dungeon run game where the players play the part of the dungeon creatures as opposed to the warriors that come in to slay them? Perhaps having some "dungeon keeper" style topsy turvy "you play the monsters" thing going on? Tell me if I am wrong.

And also: "WHY HAVENT YOU PLAYTESTED THIS MORE!" lol jks

But no man, it sounds like you've come to the right place! tell us what other games other than dnd you play? Also which version of dnd and which is your favorite? And have you played pathfinder or other rpgs? and what is your favorite high-numbered player boardhae? (6+) and also what is your favorite party game?

(As you can see, I am trying hard to try and draw you into boardgames more and away from dnd!)

Also: tell us about the game man heck! We get excited about this stuff?! What type of game is it? You better tell dralius otherwise he will get bitey.

pleasure to have you with us man :)
