Good afternoon from sunny Gibraltar.

Thought it would only be right to say hello.

I got back into modern board gaming (after a long hiatus) after finally getting round to playing Catan and being introduced to other titles like Ticket to Ride, Pandemic etc. Shortly after i found myself hooked on youtube channels watching and learning about new games from the Dice Tower and Tabletop. As a result i found my collection rapidly expand to bursting point and where i find my self of having more games to play than time to play em all.

After playing games on a regular basis again i found myself constantly thinking about ideas for games and little tweaks that i would do to existing games here and there and decided to try and design a game. It didn't take long to realise that i was out of my depth and finding it a bit overwhelming.

Whilst doing some online research i came across an online blog / game design course which had been run some years back and decided to follow the course with a friend. (https://gamedesignconcepts.wordpress.com/) This turned out to be the most helpful thing i could have done and it gave me a real insight into design and changed the way i was trying to go about it.

I'm currently actively working on two light weight games, one of which i have been working on over the course of the last 18months and i feel is very near to being shared for wider playtesting.

Gibraltar is very small (pop 30k) and not many people regularly play board games let alone prototypes. I am very much interested in offering my time as a playtester to others and hopefully find others to test my work and give feedback.

Look forward to working with you all

Welcome to the forum

Thanks Adam

I am updating my working document with the results of the last few playtests and changes so i will hopefully create a game journal for it here very shortly. =)

Hello!

Hello and welcome, Nich!

It's always cool to hear how far and wide the board game design hobby/industry has stretched. It sounds like you've had a pretty solid primer on modern board gaming with the titles you've mentioned. Keep researching.

Have fun with your designs, and best of success in your progress, however far you decide to take it. :)

Thanks

THanks have been having fun working with some ideas for the last 18 months or so. Aiming to have the details of my most advanced project on here by the end of the month. Fingers crossed this is the last iteration before looking into releasing it to other interested testers =)

I'm new too!

Hi Nich, welcome! I just started on this forum as well.

I'd love to exchange playtesting games with you, just let me know!

Also, I'm checking out that course and it looks promising, thanks for sharing!

Hi

Thanks for the welcome. Can't believe it took me this long to find the forum. I'm definitely up for exchanging playtesting.

I'll add you as a friend as it will be easier to keep track of messages. For some reason i don't seem to be getting notifications to my posts.

Hope you find the online course useful. I know it was held sometime ago now but i found it really useful to follow through.

Nich
