What you have there is but

What you have there is but the seed of an idea. You need to flesh things out more before we can give you advice.
You should at least give an outline of how the game is played, and any important thematic elements.

give an honest opinion

Okay this what I have so far,but I'm not finished yet.I still have to include factions and their stories and manufacturer. Please give an honest opinion about this idea. I would really appreciate it.

Nemesis Stars
Trading Card Game
Game Plot
Battle against an enemy fleet, and destroy the fleet’s capital ship in order to win the game and take control of the universe. The concept involves you strategizing the use of build points to produce units and armaments in the void of space, while building a deck that identifies your faction and ship manufacturers.
Story
Far into the void of space, three galaxies, the Nangetti galaxy, the Turangus Galaxy, and The Solaris Galaxy are locked in an eminent war. The five largest factions of these three galaxies have to put aside diplomacy and pull their forces together and fight for the glory of their species. You must choose your faction, Travel from planet to planet as you engage in combat to win this galactic war and GAIN VICTORY AGAINST THE NEMESIS STARS.
Unit Cards and Build Points
Build Points-In order to produce units, armaments, and warp to other planets you must spend build points. Each player earns a build point each turn, the max amount each player can have is eight, unless certain cards permit you to have more.
Units Card-These are your ships and fighters that are to be used in battle. Each faction has a unique line up of units ranging from small squadrons to large dreadnaughts. Most units cost build points to use in the void of space, but there are some that can simply be placed in battle at no cost. Besides build cost, there is also build time which is how many turns before that unit can actually be used. Some units only need to be placed in the void with no build time required at all ,but some units ,such as dreadnaughts need 3 turns before they can used.
In addition, units also have attack and defense points. Attack is how much damage you can do to an enemy’s units and defense is how much damage your units can take before becoming space junk.
Abilities- some units have talents that allow them to override some of the rules of the game or enhance certain attributes of a unit(s) in your fleet.
Special Cards
Armament cards- These cards attach to units based on a unit’s factions, manufacturer, or units class. Each one can increase a unit’s attributes.
Command Cards-based on your faction these cards are placed near your capital ship to change conditions with your fleet.
Planet cards-Planet cards are set in the middle of the void and represent where you and your opponent’s battle takes place. Certain planet can boost a certain faction some planets climate can create harmful conditions to both players , but they always add a new way to play when building your fleet.

You should try playing Titanium Wars or Star Realms as they have game mechanics that are similar to your idea.

a change I made

I looked up the games toy spoke of and saw just how many similarities they have compared to mine and I thought long and hard about the building point mechanic and realized that it would probably be better if the players had to sacrifice some cards to use another. Sort of like turning them into scrap metal to create another unit or armament.what would you say.

That sounds a bit like Race for the Galaxy. You need to spend cards to actually settle/develop properties. It works well, so long as you have a solid way to draw new cards.

Also, welcome!
