Here is a "loose" formart that was created to demonstrate how a landscape could be put together without rigid rules. Again this is non-specific, just used some colors and made it simulate as if two players were creating the space in which they would be playing.

Comments

Villages or towns

You could also add towns which could be places that a unit can stop at and draw a card (as an example). There could be other forms of actions like recruiting if you have enough resources. Again more mechanics to explore...

Bonuses

There could be certain bonuses that are granted according to which tile is placed. A green tile could be a forest and could grant a defensive bonus specified by the opposite side. Another rule could be that blue tiles are not passable, you must go around them, etc. Or brown tiles you must stop before moving past (2 turns)...
