After a couple of years of development and 2 previous Kickstarter attempts, Into the Black: Boarding Party is back on Kickstarter!

We're not quite 12 hours in and have already passed 65% funded so I'm pretty excited to see how this pans out!

It's been quite a while since I've talked about the game here as I've been concentrating largely on development, revisions, and a few other games I'm working on but I am thankful for the early stages advice and critiques I've received from the members here.

if you're interested in checking it out, please do!

That is an awesome use of an animated graphic. I should do that when I do my Kickstarter.

Animated GIF's are really helpful for most games. Gives you a brief but easy to understand "how to" with regards to gameplay.

76% in less than 24 hours .. 29 days to go! :D

Looks like your funding is all but assured at this point. Well done! All your preparation and development is turning into a success. :)

Thanks!

Prep, Development and 3rd time is a charm! :D

Many, many thanks to anyone who backs!

Would love to hit the unlocks of the expansion add-ons as that would be the perfect storm, being able to produce the base game and the 2 expansions at the same time, but we're still a ways from there. Just under $2k more to hit the funding goal.

Pretty exciting!

Looking forward to my copy when it arrives, regardless of the state of stretch-goal-icity. :)

Congratulations!

You're moving along in stretch goals... And still 8 more days to go! Almost 200% of your Funding Goal which is always exciting to see...

BTW did you make any changes from before (in terms of the game)???

Or was there just more marketing being done to get more initial backers at that very crucial 48 hours period at the start of your most recent campaigns??

You just got me as a money backer. I don't collect many games. But I do like to help out and support various KS efforts... Especially when they are from BGDF long-standing members (not the drop by, fly away).

Good on the comments section too... How has the Kicktraq hotness been? You're doing a super good job handling the campaign... very professional and plenty of dialog to go along with the funding of the game...

Great job James!

I did some major graphic design improvements and fixed a few gameplay flaws since the previous campaign.

Other than that it was getting a few good reviews and plugging away relentlessly on social media and at local conventions.

A good portion of the first 48 hours came from my prior campaigns backers (about 50% of them returned right away) and some of those have been vocal supporters as well so that has helped.

After the first 48 hours it's again come down to relentless plugging on social media, both personally and through highly targeted facebook ads. My $500 spend on facebook ads over the course of 2.5 weeks has netted me $3000 in backer support, so a 6x return on investment which is fantastic!

I also grabbed some free or dirt cheap ad spots on a few boardgame related websites and blogs and sent out a couple dozen press releases.

Getting a few high profile people backing has helped immensely as well! (Jon Gilmour of Dead of Winter fame backed after I showed the game to him last weekend at Breakout, Matt Holden of the Indie Game Aliance is sure to have brought a few with his backing, Joshua Cappel (board game artist and co-owner of Kids Table Boardgames/Burnt Island Games) brought some backers).

Thanks! I do try to be professional in everything I do. It's the natural businessperson in me I guess.

Kicktraq .. we haven't been on the Kicktraq hotness at all that I have seen, though a couple of pledges did come direct from there.

Thanks everyone!

Still some room to go and a week left! If projections are even remotely correct the campaign should hit around $25k which would be a great sweet spot for manufacturing/fulfillment/fees.

Congratulations!

It's always great to see one of our own get successfully funded over at KS. Again, I wish you the best with the project.

Cheers,
Joe

What an amazing ride!

I am happy to say that Into the Black: Boarding Party hit almost 300% funded with 426 backers! 3rd time really was a charm!

So exciting was to see an equal amount pledged in the final 48 hours as there was in the first 48 hours. That was a rather unexpected pleasure.

Now, the hard work of prepping files, making adjustments to accommodate stretch goals unlocked (18 of them!), the back and forth dance with manufacturing and on to fulfillment .. Equal parts exciting and terrifying!

Thank you for the support provided here at BGDF and elsewhere. It's been great and I look forward to continuing to discuss and encourage new and returning designs for years to come!
