Terminology for Supplies and Equipment

Hello everyone,

in the game I design, I have the following resources: Energy, Microchips, Medicine, Weapons & Equipment.

I am trying to find one word to refer to the Energy, Microchips and Medicine as a group and another to refer to Weapons and Equipment as another group.

The first group I think can be called supplies but the second one is really tricky. One solution I am thinking of is to rename the Equipment to just Tools and then to refer to the Weapons + Tools as Equipment. But then again I am not sure if a weapon is equipment.

Any thoughts?

Thanks everyone!

How about "gear"?

The first set could also be something like "Tech", depending on your game..

I don't think this has an easy answer as it stands. The two groupings you have seem arbitrary (is there an obvious relation between them?) so there's no useful word.

Why not be game specific and use the first letters? Maybe change Microchips to Chips and Equipment to Gear?

Then you have "ECM" and "WG".

Thoughts?

Here's my take on it

Quote:
#1: Energy, Chips, Medicine = Supplies

#2: Weapons & Gear = Equipment

Like @ceethreepio, I would also suggest to no "re-use" the SAME letter for one of your "resources". This will create less confusion when referring to a specific "resource".

I know this sounds a lot like @ceethreepio's response, the only difference is that I grouped them into two (2) categories: Supplies and Equipment.

Hope you find an appropriate TERMINOLOGY for your "resources" in your game.

Cheers!

Thank you guys for your responses !!! It is a co-op cyberpunk game and the main difference between the two groups is that the first is consumable and shared among all players while the second is permanent and personal.

The gear is a good terminology for a cyberpunk setting but I have it already as a keyword in some equipment cards.

My main concern is if weapons can be characterized as equipment or if it is confusing.

The resources you describe as consumable could actually be called "consumables".

i think "provisions" for your consumables and "equipment" for anything else.
or if the focus is more on who can use them "personal" and "group" supplies/equiptment etc.
