I just wanted to share what I have been working on during the last month. Well it's probably been somewhere around November that I started on the Translation and I am currently translating the "Products" Section which has been overhauled with new "information" and a more standard "look & feel".

I'm almost done and the deadline in the end of the Month (January 2026).

This is a HARD DEADLINE because I have very important matters and a couple meetings in February that will hopefully shape the coming months even though I do have other plans and things that will need to be worked on in March / April...

I just figured I'd share what it is that has been taking so much of my time. And I for one "hate" translation. It's not an easy process because once I translate sentence by sentence, I need to make sure that the ACCENTS are HTML escaped using the ampersand (&eacute for an "e" acute or "é") such that the HTML is valid and escaped correctly.

So given the translation, I need to piece together the right sentences and then escape all characters that need to be such that the French appears correctly and doesn't rely on the language setting of the visitor's Browser.

Anyhow I had a bit of a BREAK... And figured I'd share what has been going on and the timeline I am working with. As far as "Products" are concerned... I have completed 5 out of 7. Well technically tonight I will FINISH the 5th one. I've got like 4 sentences to finish so maybe like 40 minutes to go... And I should be good for bed... Once the translation of Product #5 is done.

Cheers all.

Taking a brief break from Translation

25% of Product #6 is DONE (so far). Can't say that I am "speedy gonzales" but I seem to be moving forwards as planned. I get weird options when translating using Gemini ... Like it translates "Battle" to "Affrontement". Why? I have no clue but I naturally replaced it with "Bataille".

That's why it takes so long. Sure if I accepted the SENTENCES "as-is" it would take me 5 minutes to complete the translation. The problem??? Is that when I would re-read the French website... I wouldn't understand a Fncking thing!!!

I went to French primary and secondary schools and graduated my high school from a French school. But when I reached CEGEP, I moved over to English. Same with my college (University) ... I continued in English.

So maybe my vocabulary is not the best... But IF I have a hard time with the translation... I'm better a bunch of my Quebecois Brothers and Sisters would agree similarly.

Anyhow... As far as timing goes. If I can wrap up the French translation for Product #6, that will mean that I am 100% on track to finishing the LAST product (#7 Prospector) in the coming days.

Sincerely.

Last product #7 is all that is left to translate

Well it's been a LONG and enduring task... But I'm finally down to the LAST Product which needs Translation: Prospector (Product #7).

I will commence the translation tonight and then I have four (4) days to complete it. I must admit that my earlier deadline of November could have been possible IF I didn't have to handle the Kickstarter "Dual Dice" (DD) shipping. That took a couple weeks in November and I only started to "fix" the K2 Website a couple of weeks into December.

And then the final translation has taken place in January and I've been pretty much focused on that task. Obviously I can't just sit there and TRANSLATE. It's a very boring job to do. Sure proofing is better because you already have a frame of reference to work with... But actually going from English to French is not an easy task.

And yes, I am using Gemini, Google's AI to help. But still it takes time to review the translation and to mix-and-match options of various portions of a sentence and then mash-up a more clear sentence than one version of it... It still takes time and effort to PROOF and make sure the sentences make sense and are understandable. Sometimes the AI uses words that I don't like like "piochez" instead of "tirez" for drawing a card, etc. etc.

In any case, I am ALMOST done. I will keep you all posted as things move forwards and get completed before the end of the Month.

Best.

I am done 100% with the Translation!

Super GOOD News! The translation of my website to French is completed and I have uploaded both the UPDATED "English" Version and the NEWER "French" Version. I was not sure if I would complete it today or tomorrow... Well technically it IS already TOMORROW (since it is past Midnight)! LOL.

But if anyone wants to look at the website in either language, here is the URL/Link:

https://www.k2games.ca

Finally ... Something that I've been working on for 2-Months is FINALLY completed. Let me know if you spot any errors. There could be some... It's not always obvious ... Some of you are Francophone ... So you are fluent in French and others are fluent in English and there could be a mistake in either or even BOTH languages... TBD.

For now it is done. And IF you spot an error... Just PM me or reply to this THREAD. Thank you for your patronage.

Oh and BTW the ONLINE STORE is not up yet. That should be available to all in about SIX (6) Months. I've got a TON of stuff to do before that and I really need to focus on getting everything done.

But no worries... The translation is done. One Milestone completed!

Cheers.

Took a second look today and ...

Found that there were a bunch of ERRORS on the "French" Page. Again mostly due to the fact that my HOSTS page encoding is different that the WINDOWS encoding used to edit the "French" Page.

What does that mean??? Well it means if I put an "accented" character in the source of the "French" Page it will display "GARBAGE". All accents must be "escaped" with HTML entity such that the HOSTING platform does NOT make the wrong character selections. I believe my HOST is on ASCII while my home PC is on UTF-8 and that's why when you use NORMAL characters with accents locally it looks fine.

But the minute I upload the "French" Page to the HOST... Those characters get all messed up.

I think the page should be OK now... I've reviewed it 3-Times since yesterday.

If anyone spots an error please let me know. Going through the entire site one more time this afternoon yielded about a half dozen errors in which some of the encoding had been missed.

Rest assured I am convinced that the website will be good to go... And that there will be no more errors to speak of.

Sincerely.
